Deltahawk update from S&F looks good!

In Europe sure—your example doesn’t fit for the rest of the world IMO. But even there if you want to fly something larger then something that burns Jet A and produces more than 160hp might be attractive. As to whether the Deltahawk will make a go of it —I dunno. I’ve been following them for...

Deltahawk update from S&F looks good!

only if you’re limiting yourself to LSA sized aircraft otherwise you’re gonna need more ponies

With the new ACS rules, is GPS alone sufficient for IR?

In this day and age, approach availability with an IFR GPS to meet ACS requirements seems more likely than without with the decommissioning of VORs and NDBs. So can a DPE leaglly say no if the aircraft is suitably equipped to meet ACS criteria?

Deltahawk update from S&F looks good!

IIRC they are offering an RV-14 FWF package. That might entice a few re-powers across a numbers E-AB models, especially for overseas folks where availability and cost of Jet A trumps AVGAS. Plus there's no STC to stand in the way.

    First time solo in IMC

This is exactly why I hand fly at least half of the approaches I shoot for currency/proficiency. I'm a firm believer in using A/P to the maximum extent possible for real world single pilot IFR ops. However, you've got to be comfortable hand flying as you never know when the A/P is going to go...

just back from Sun N Fun

I was hoping to do that with a new Best Tug but alas it was not to be --they did give me some credit towards shipping plus some other discounts so it all worked out in the end.

just back from Sun N Fun

We had a great time this year. We camped in an RV for the first time in order to hang with our team of volunteers. I put the camper there on Apr 4th (between Paradise City and the NOAA hangar and right next to Camp Bushwheel) and we left today around 12:30. This was a pretty expensive year as...

First Airventure - Long journey ahead

And don’t forget the occupancy rule for tents— take whatever the manufacturer says and divide by 2. For example, a 4-person tent is really a 2-person tent.

Is Vans at Sun n Fun this year?

As TCABM stated, Vans publicly announced a few weeks they would not be at SnF this year and they aren’t, but they said they would be at Osh.

First Airventure - Long journey ahead

That is a very rare occurrence, basically a unicorn event—Osh (Scholler or aircraft camping) ain’t the Buffalo Chip at Sturgis. And nothing to be concerned about. If something is going to happen it’s much more likely someone trips over a tent tie down at 2:30am going to a porta pot to pee. A...

We’re thinking it’s part of the 50th Anniversary celebration.

    Sun-n-Fun PIREP

So we’ve been here since Saturday volunteering and I’ve had ample opportunity to wander the grounds as things are getting setup. By the looks of it, much like Osh last year, this is going to be a banner year for SnF. New vendor areas, more venders, more entertainment, just more of everything.
