FAA: Pilots should be capable of flying aircraft manually when needed

IMO, most pilots who have moved on to corporate/ airlines would tell you the hardest approach they've ever flown was in a Cessna 172 IMC hand flown.

Possibly reported for VFR on Top

Youtubers fairly often have FAA calling them from A-holes that watch the videos and see some little infraction. One was the pilot said, "clear of the active" 10 ft before the line and a hater reported him to the FAA. One guy got reported 3 times from a hater. Don't do the NASA because you...

First in-flight emergency declared... mysterious problem !!! Long post

A crow's foot or 1 1/4" 12 point works. Apply the torque hasn't been an issue. We installed the copper Rev B, 3 times before we could get one that appeared adequate but it still leaked in the end.

FAA: Pilots should be capable of flying aircraft manually when needed

My plane doesn't have one but that would be my next upgrade, money aside. IMO, it relieves stress, allows for better attention on engine parameters and more eyes outside the cockpit. Not having to watch the vertical speed, compass, ipad etc..

    Extension Cord Across Taxiway?

Don't do it if you are in a Corsair as it's slinging a 13' prop.

    Cessna 172N - Performance Questions

Well if yall are using 10 GPH then we all got to the same number, because that's what I use. Using tac, I have used as much as 9.5 GPM. Hobbs, I can get anywhere from 6.5 on up depending taxi time how hard I run etc.... I put 10 gpm in foreflight for cruise @ 2300 RPM, 13 GPM for climb and 10...

    Cessna 172N - Performance Questions

Yes, what Palmpilot said. Hobbs time increases as the clock moves forward. Tach time, on the other hand, moves faster or slower depending on engine RPM. So for example, while taxiing, tach time is only about 40% of Hobbs time. For me, tac time on a given flight is always less than hobbs so...

    Cessna 172N - Performance Questions

I track my fuel burn per hour based on tac time, no hobbs or foreflight. tac is more conservative. After a few trips, you'll get some very accurate average fuel burn numbers to plug in. If I went by hobbs or foreflight, I'd run out of fuel. My 0300 gets about 7 gph hobbs and 9 tac. I use 10...

Just put some fake blinking read lights around the outside. The crooks are too stupid to know they aren't real.

co2 detector - high or low in cockpit?

There's a myth that carbon monoxide alarms should be installed lower on the wall because carbon monoxide is heavier than air. In fact, carbon monoxide is slightly lighter than air and diffuses evenly throughout the room.

Inactive engine, pull plugs, hit starter until oil pressure?

the 20w50 and camguard is the perfect winter combination. 1 month is nothing. I cranked mine a few days on a trip at freezing with 50w. That hurt. It started but I cried. I guess the good thing is it had set only overnight but still hurt.
