    Pipistrel Alpha downsides?

N520AT is in a hangar so you won't see it outside on the line. Ask for Chris O. for your intro flight. He is a great CFI.

    Pipistrel Alpha downsides?

Yes I very much like the school. My training first started at a CTAF airport. Switching to a towered airport has really given me confidence on the radio. My instructor is Chris O. He is great. N520AT was down for a few weeks due to a sensor problem. The oil pressure/temp went wacky when I was...

    Pipistrel Alpha downsides?

Seriously only 90 kts at 5500 rpm?? I fly N520AT and I can easily get to 110 knots at 5000 rpm. We must have significantly different props. I can also climb at 1000+ fpm, full fuel and me and my cfi.

    Pipistrel Alpha downsides?

I will try to trim it out and see what it does. I have seen 110 kts without really trimming it perfectly. I spend more time training at 37 knots then going places.

    Log book error

This particular day my, ummm, friend was in the pattern for 2 hours and the landings were in the upper teens. By the last few he was getting fatigued and we weren't making progress, so his instructor said let's call it a day. The next flight my instructor said let's just go up for fun, go do...

    Log book error

So a student pilot friend of mine might have recorded the wrong number of landings on one particular day. The CFI said there were X landings and then when my friend went back to flightaware it was clear to my friend that the number of landings were overstated. (FYI - daytime VFR). Should my...

Slow flight in a Pipistrel Alpha Trainer

George, Explain please. I'm a dumb student pilot with 15 hours and want to know if I'm doing something wrong. I was practicing slow flight on a windy day. Wisdom please.....

Slow flight in a Pipistrel Alpha Trainer

Ground speed was 6.7kts. We were practicing slow flight. Vso is 37kts. Turns around a point (turning left) were fun with the wind pushing me, at one point I had to crab right in order to keep from getting pushed into my circle. I love power-off stalls....power-on still gives me some pucker...

    Close to solo question

I have about 12 hours and things are going well. I'm handling all phases of flight with little to no intervention from my CFI. He told me to knock out my written and get my iacra number. I've been kicking around the choice between sport pilot and private. I've studied for both and been scoring...

    Cold weather operations rotax 912

Yeah... Not my plane so I'm uncomfortable to touch anything but the controls.... Sometimes I'm not comfortable touching the controls either.... :)

    Cold weather operations rotax 912

I went flying on yesterday and the OAT was 28 degrees fahrenheit. It took over 20 minutes on the ramp to get the oil temp to the POH minimum of 120 degrees. We were varying the rpm to try to get heat in the engine. Are there any magic RPMs that cold weather rotax fliers use? Luckily I had the...

    Volunteer hours

I'm concerned with the FAA saying I'm getting paid to fly with out having my commercial.

    Volunteer hours

My company pays me 8 hours a year to do volunteer work for any not-for-profit. But I imagine I cannot use those hours to volunteer for pilotsnpaws. I'm still a student but should be done in 2024,where I get my next 8 volunteer hours.

    Substitute CFI

I'm trying to take lessons at least 1 or 2 times a week, but my CFI is on a well deserved vacation. My question is it OK or bad form to have another CFI at the same school fill in one week so I don't go 2 weeks without flying? For reference, not that it matters... I'm a 53 year old student...

Dumb student pilot question Rudder related

Today I was more attentive to the rudder. When rolling in or out I was using the pedals. It was much better for coordination. Lots of great guidance here, thank you flying community.
