    Airline Pilot training academies

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with any of the airline pilot training academies like Horizon Ascend, Delta Propel, United Aviate or Southwest 225. My grandson completed the application process for the Horizon Ascend Academy. He got his FAA Class I medical and a current passport...

Oh Continental, what have you done now?

I experienced a catastrophic engine failure on a Continental O-470 in a Cessna 182. (this was in 1976). The cause was the same as that addressed by this AD, a circlip not completely seated and the counterweight retaining pin coming out. In this case, the counterweight exited the engine, punching...

    Insurance coverage for student pilots

Thanks everyone for all the responses. I did contact my insurance broker and underwriter. Here's the answer I got: "Under the direct supervision will mean the student pilot has the appropriate logbook endorsements and is abiding by the CFI’s stipulations. Different CFI’s may have different...

    Insurance coverage for student pilots

In reading my Global Aerospace Insurance policy, I came across this paragraph regarding student pilots: "STUDENT PILOT PROVISION In consideration of payment of the premium for this policy, it is agreed that: 1. Cessna 172 pneumatic stall warning question

I believe that the thin gasket is part of the Scoop Plate. I've submitted a question to Textron Support but haven't heard back from them yet. Textron does sell the scoop plate, also referred to as the adjustable plate in the IPC, presumably with the gasket. They show 13 in stock on their website...

I'm due for my 24 month transponder check. Should I be able to remove my transponder and take it to an avionics repair station for the test? I'm reading FAR Part 43 Appendix F, and it says that the requires tests "may be conducted using a bench check". I've contacted a couple of avionics shops...

    What Constitutes Cross Country Time?

When Dick Rutan and Jeanna Yeager completed their non-stop round the world flight in the Rutan Voyager in 1986, it was technically not a cross-country flight since the took off and landed at the same airport.

    Aera 796 audio

That's a nice looking installation! I'll check my headsets to see if I have a 3.5mm input jack. Or I could try it with a separate earbud to see if I get sound that way. I have submitted the question in to Garmin support.

    Aera 796 audio

I have a Garmin Aera 796. I know it give aural alerts for terrain, traffic etc, but how do I connect to it so I can hear the alerts in my headphones. I have the Garmin yoke mount which has a cable with a 3.5mm headphone jack, but I'm not sure how I would use that.
