Streak of bad "luck"? Result of FAA DEI hiring requirements? Something else? What say ye commercial passenger and cargo aircraft pilots- have you noticed a deterioration in the skills of the ATC you deal with on an often daily basis?

Seems unbelievable to me that this condition even exists. Was the airport/runway there before the stacks were built? Who in the hell would think that tall stacks barely 100 ft. below the approach flight path and directly in-line with the runway is OK??

Poor decision making in flying at all, then again in trying to return to the runway? The second one is puzzling to me. Given the pilot had 20 hours eyes inside, when he apparently realized he'd made a big mistake once airborne and ended up in IMC when he shouldn't have been there- wouldn't it...
