    Learn to Turn

So I flight instruct at the moment at KBVI, and this hotshot captain came in acting like a "never flown before idiot" parent of a daughter who was going to go through the program. And when I gave the walk around on the airplane he asked me "what primary control surface makes the plane turn?" and...

Should I pursue a flight career with a DUI

Well you are quite a liability with even a single DUI on your record. Not to mention if you wanted to fly in to Canada you have to wait another 5 years because they will actually deport you back to the U.S. and make someone else take the flight home if they find out you have had a DUI in the...

    Lasers and Airplanes

I had one hit me while on approach to Pittsburgh intl. about a month ago... if you are fully night adjusted, a direct hit can hurt like hell... good thing I live in Pittsburgh and knew the exact location where it was coming from so they could send some people out to investigate... no laughing...

    Scam ???

That's the epitome of a scam bud. Coming from a younger generation guy who's seen all these things with the growth of the internet and it's subsequent scams... I call bullschit... But you could always google a review of it

    Driver Inattention: Trucker Kills LEO

It's reasons like this, especially of videos I have seen about this... I always leave some room in front of me and if a big truck's on its way I ALWAYS watch him to see if he is slowing down, if not, ill just slide off to the side... The big thing that scares the living schit out of me is...

    A toughie (multi-engine)

So on my Multi-engine Commercial ride, I was asked what happens to Vmc with bank angle? Assume I was in an airplane with counter-rotating propellers. So there is no critical engine I told him I wasn't sure, but if I were to guess, Vmc would increase with an increase in bank angle. This would...

    Private checkride went horribly wrong!

You weren't ready to fly, and apparently never will be. God, what is wrong with you. I make my students plan every XC on a piece of paper AND I let them use the Garmin 430 in our aircraft. I know the ins and out of both, and I knew them before I became a CFI. There is a big difference...

    Angle of Attack indicator

You don't need that crap... When you feel the buffet push down... We all know that every flying aircraft works off the idea of the AoA, you don't need a needle to tell you what the airplane is doing... you can just do it... don't become a button pushing USAF pilot who doesn't know what a stall...

Tell Me About Radio Controlled (RC) Airplanes

I have had the Eflite Apprentice 15e for 2 straight years... Crashed it about 13 times and replaced many cheap cheap parts and the thing's meat and bones still runs great. It is easy to learn and just fun as hell to fly. I started by doing simple 2-3 feet take-offs into ground effect and...

    Hand propping with a rope

Hand propping is perfectly safe if you know the correct procedures... This is just dumb, there is so much potential for the rope to be ingested and catch fire... Or get caught in the prop assembly...
