    Invisible fence?

Burying the line sucks. Did my 1+ acre myself. Found a straight (flat) shovel worked best. Step it down, and push a few inches forward. Follow along with the wire and a wood paint stirrer to push down, then walk on it to push soil back down. Used skill saw to notch expansion joint in driveway...

Am I the Only One Glad When the Eclipse is Over?

Traveled a couple of hours (by car) to get in the path of totality. Was very worth it for me. Astounding view once the glasses were removed. Very surreal.....and the "diamond ring" effect coming out of totality took my breath away. (Full disclosure: I've been an amateur astronomy nut for most...

    I hope this isn't routine

Make it a positive. I've had some interesting times stopping (over nighting) at places I didn't plan on. (Weather, mechanical). Roll with the punches, and enjoy. Eat at a new restaurant, meet and chat with people you wouldn't have normally met. (Like the Blackhawk crew you mentioned). Life's...

    They see me rollin

Glad you're ok. That could have been BAD. You're right about people....There are still good people around, just a little harder to find. I'm a transplant from So California (now in KY....same kind of people...just slightly different accent than those from TN). The "sore/hurt" will really kick...

    No rumble strips....duh.....

    That Guy...

Texting drivers. Now I admit to having a quick look now and again, but on my daily commute, I see *MANY* people with their heads so far in their phones that they take up 2 lanes. You'd think that after you've tasted the rumble strips on the side, or damn near hit a car on the other, you'd put...

Piper Cherokee 180 toe brakes addition

I ad a Cherokee with only left (pilot's side) brakes. Never even thought of adding to the right. Got to the point I used the handbrake more and more during runway slowdown. I can't imagine going thru the expense/trouble adding them to the right side.

    Upscale eating

Cowman, where are you at? If ever near Louisville, try Le Relias, located in the old terminal building at Bowman field (KLOU). A bit pricey, but probably the best restaurant I've been to worldwide. Small, quiet, French bistro. http://www.lerelaisrestaurant.com

Choosing a CFI... old guy/gal or young guy/gal?

Slightly different experience here. My primary CFI was a young guy, I was his first zero time student. I'm guessing he was 25 or so (I was in my low 40's). He was squared away, and had the "knack" of teaching...at least with me. I think his only unsure moment was signing off to solo...he was...

    request of Cherokee 140 owners

Yeah, replaced long before I owned her. The alodined side was the replaced side. Never found out the "story" behind it....but the log-book documented the skin replacement. You know there HAD to be a story in there somewhere..... Now I'm curious, do you get that sound from both sides? I...

    request of Cherokee 140 owners

Not quite what I remembered, but does this help at all?

    request of Cherokee 140 owners

Damn, wish I still had my '69...I'd run out and check. I think I've got some interior pics of that area from an annual. Let me rummage and I'll get back to you. I sure don't remember any scraping sounds, although the panels push in pretty easily in that area if memory serves.

    Mountain Flying

Stewart, that's the way to mountain fly, a 20mm gun mounted to the strut to "shoot the peaks" off the jagged edges.....;)
