    Spoilers/speedbrake on takeoff

In the scenario above in the original post, it assumes that all the spoilers on both wings are extended and not only on one wing.

No I am not. Just a regular aviation enthusiast.

    Spoilers/speedbrake on takeoff

If I am a passenger on an airliner [let us say a B737-800] and the spoilers/speedbrakes were extended fully prior to takeoff during taxi, the aircraft lines up on the runway and the engines spool for takeoff with the spoilers/speedbrakes still extended, shall I raise a high alert for the flight...

Boeing 707 and DC8 Body Geometry

As an avid fan of aircraft design and aviation on the whole, I have been searching almost everywhere online and could not find the answer. Has anyone got a 707 and/or DC8 manual with the geometric ground limitations? In particular I want to know what body attitude angle will the tail contact the...

    727-100 and 727-200 Components

Thanks overdrive, appreciated, but I am hoping for a reply from a past or present 727 driver who may have some knowledge on aircraft component identification. Thanks anyway for your reply.

    727-100 and 727-200 Components

As you will see on the B727 reference sheet attached, it shows the body attitude where different components will contact the runway for the 100 and 200 series models of the Boeing 727. These components are namely the TAIL SKID, TAILPIPE and NACELLE SKID. I have identified the tail skid and...

    A320 Rotation Technique for Takeoff

    1. Would you say this Embraer 190 is rotating at 5 degrees per second [if not 10 degrees per second!!]? 2. Do you think the PF knows the tailstrike angle and purposely rotated very quickly to just below that angle and stopped there for liftoff? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckrtgJIOVEI

    A320 Rotation Technique for Takeoff

Back to the OP's thread.... So R+W, At 7-8 degrees when the A320 mains lift off the ground on rotation for takeoff, as folks continue the rotation to 15 degrees, in their sometimes rapid rotation manner, there is no chance that the tail can still kiss the ground at 11.7 degrees?

    A320 Rotation Technique for Takeoff

Hi all, any A320 drivers here to answer the below question? I note the A320 with landing gear compressed, the tail contacts the runway at 11.7 degrees. In the below two videos, the rotation rate seems quite fast and before the radio altimeter reads even 10 feet AGL, the pitch is already past...

    When do you flap?

Ron, what model Grumman are you referring to here? When you say 'skagging' the tail, do you mean dragging the tail on the ground? Also, in the case of a flapless landing on this model or similar designed model, how would you avoid skagging the tail, perhaps aim for a three point landing?

    Flap retraction on landing

On light singles [e.g. C152/C172 etc.] and perhaps light twin engine aircrafts, do you think it is good practice to retract the flaps soon after touchdown on landing as an aid to dump/kill the lift? [the equivalent of raising the spoilers on larger aircraft].

Buy FAA printed books or download free?

Hi regarding the great training books which are free on the FAA website as PDF, these are also available in print. I note they are updated from time to time but would you say it is worth still buying a printed copy? I would imagine that the core information won't change and only minor...
