    Winery with runway in CA?

That strip is private and very short. Healdsburg is surrounded by wineries and town with hotels is Uber/Lyft close. Santa Rosa has better services for rental cars, etc.

Zaon still useful in the West?

I still have my XRX and get hits that do not show on the iPad with my Stratux. Once I get ADS-B Out in a few months, we'll see how that goes.

Tri-tip is on the East Coast

Tri Tip is fairly easy to cook, if you actually get Tri Tip. I was in Edenton NC two years ago and talked to the local butcher. He said he knew what it was but obviously didn’t. He gave us top sirloin roast, probably the flap. It was good but it was not not Tri Tip. More and more places on the...

Love tap at Reno Air Race

Which is why the overtaking plane has to be high and to the outside. I’ve seen a few midairs at Reno and they usually don’t end well. These guys are lucky. I’ve seen at least four fatal crashes there caused by wake turbulence causing loss of control or mechanical failure. It’s a very unforgiving sport.

Love tap at Reno Air Race

The penalty may have been from a pylon cut. Moot point since he DNF’d. At Reno, the overtaking plane has to pass high and to the outside of the plane being overtaken. Obviously didn’t happen here. They are both lucky. Contact like that has caused wings to fold and pilots to die in previous...

    Google Earth Flight Path Visualization

Make sure you left click to activate the mouse as your yoke. That may be your issue.

    Google Earth Flight Path Visualization

In the help file are the keyboard shortcuts. I fly using the mouse. I start looking straight down at an eye altitude of about 8000’. Enter flight sim, chose SR22, click "start flight". Left click the mouse to activate "mouse as yoke" and slide back to level off. HUD display will be on screen...

    Google Earth Flight Path Visualization

I just use the flight sim in Google Earth and fly where I want to go. I use it when going to a new area or airport.

    Wiring question

I don’t know how the Sky Beacon is wired as far as separate connections for the ADS-B and Nav light. I can tell you that pulling an additional wire through the wing for a separate ADS-B power switch is much easier on the right wing. On my 74 Warrior, the Nav light wire is tied to the pitot heat...

    Bike in a Plane?

I’ve done the same. I wrap it in a moving blanket.

    Tracking AD's and Maintenance?

I bought Adlog when I first bought my plane. Kept it for a few years until I was sure everything was taken care of. I then listed all my equipment and appliances in excel with model and serial numbers. It makes the annual AD search very simple. I also subscribed to the FAA AD notification...

    Bay Area AME

Seidenverg is a retired surgeon and does medicals part time to keep working. He's also a pilot and loves to talk flying. My last medical took about 20 minutes and we talked flying for 40 minutes. I suspect he'll retire with the new class 3 rules taking effect. He has a small office at the...
