    Name that plane...

A commuter use to fly those out of Ambler, PA back in the 80s. They were built in Romania for a while. The fuel gauges on my plane are common to it.

    Valve Size

Attached to previous post. Not sure why the original link didn't work. Re-entered that, also, and it appears to work for me.

    Valve Size

Does this help? http://www.combustech.com/Technical_Data/Service_Instruction_1037K.pdf If I read it correctly you have a LW-19001j exhaust valve which appears to be a 1/2 inch diameter chrome plated sodium cooled exhaust valve. I could be wrong.

    Cigarette lighter charger

Was that a dual port charger? Anyway, this might work if you don't need both ports at 2.1A: http://www.tmart.com/Mini-Dual-USB-Port-Car-Charger-for-iPhone-iPad-iPod-White_p132011.html or http://www.tmart.com/Mini-Dual-USB-Port-Car-Charger-for-iPhone-iPad-iPod-Black_p132012.html .

    Cigarette lighter charger

I came across the following looking for a similar item not too long ago: 1) Many, if not all, plug-in DC chargers with dual USB output ports will accept 12v and 24v input for a 5.2v output. You have to look at the rating on the unit itself, not the packaging, to be sure. 2) Dual port DC...

Going to Birmingham, AL, end of September

Bill, is Tuscaloosa (TCL) to far away? Bama Air is very accommodating. http://www.bamaair.com/id3.html http://www.bamaair.com/id2.html I use them and the avionics shop (Mid-South) located in their hangar routinely.

    Inside the Security Area

Many years ago I was ferrying a Tiger from NY to ID and stopped at an airport in PA for the night. The next morning at the crack of dawn I got to the airport as they were loading a commuter airline turboprop for the day's first flight. I was unfamiliar with the access to the ramp so I asked a...

Which Pilot Advocacy Group Will Embrace UAS Pilots?

Civilian operators have their own advocacy group. http://www.auvsi.org/ The military and some gov. agencies make their own rules. The FAA is still scratching its collective head on the subject.

    Planes the movie

I saw them setting this shot up on Tuesday evening of Airventure. Shot from man lift. It's a great photo, but seeing all the vintage aircraft at ground level with their noses angled up at the screen was even more endearing to me (notice all the taildraggers). Made them appear to be...

Got my first look at the new Redhawk 172

I haven't come across the brochure I saw, which was a Safran promotional brochure, online. But it had a picture of a 6-cylinder engine presented as within the company's capability and a potential product. With the obvious choice of the C206 as an applicable airframe it seems inevitable. Here...
