Wondering what's a good concealed carry rig ...

I carry a Taurus PT-709 Slim in a Crossbreed Supertuck IWB holster. I like being able to tuck my shirt in when needed. A good gun belt to support the holster is a must in my opinion.

Anyone got bitten by the aviation bug much later in life?

I've had the desire to be a pilot from as far back in my childhood as I can remember. My grandfather and dad both would take me to watch planes take off/land at our local airport. I didn't really think much more about it though until highschool. Shortly after highschool I had to fly to another...

    List Your Types

As PIC: Cessna 152 Cessna 172 Cessna 206 Not PIC: Cessna 402 Piper Cheyenne Cessna Citation I'd love to add many more to this list, but they'll probably all be LSA, E/AB, or possibly part 103 from now on.

    Pushover from Pattern Altitude

Well, that was back in the early/mid '80s so I don't honestly remember how far we let that one develop. Most of my spins were from straight ahead power-off stalls. After I learned spin recovery we'd do 3 turn spins just for the fun of it. I doubt we let the departure stall/spin develop that...

    Pushover from Pattern Altitude

Yes, not doubt about it. It was in a 1978 C-152. We had done many spins from level flight - pull power, hold altitude, then kick the rudder when it stalled - and sometimes it was hard to convince the plane to spin. Usually it would spin but sometimes you could only get to to wallow around in...

    Pushover from Pattern Altitude

Thanks Cap'n Ron, Dan, and others for the feedback regarding the slips - much appreciated. I do use slips on final occasionally, but so far have avoided them during turns. I guess I'm just remembering my spin training years ago where we'd simulate a departure with a right turn without using...

    Pushover from Pattern Altitude

I'm not quite understanding the "slipping turn to final" part. I may do some slipping if needed after I've leveled out on final for crosswind compensation or to bleed off excess altitude if needed (if I don't already have 40 deg of flaps extended) but I don't think I'd be comfortable doing...
