    VNE question

well.. my experience with over g's and over speeds, and the engineering background that i have... as long as it was not terribly excessive, it shouldnt really pose much of a problem. If it was a wood wing citab... i think there is an ad to have the wings inspected every annual, and if those...

A drink from the Aerobatic fire hose

Why not? If an airplane can go straight up, why cant its fuselage genereate enough lift to keep it flying?

A drink from the Aerobatic fire hose

Yea, you are essentially slipping the airplane, and where they place the turns, at least in a competition sequence, you still have plenty of energy to play with. for a short period of time, 90 to270 degree turn... the most you would likely see in a comptition, there is still enough energy...

A drink from the Aerobatic fire hose

Theoreticall, in knife edge flight, there is no turning moment becuase both wings are at 0 alpha. Addition of top rudder in knifed edge flight in a flat bottom wing whihc could creat lift can be offset with aileron, and a heading change its done with elevator, in effect creating a turn...

A drink from the Aerobatic fire hose

Theres no difference in knife edge flight on heading or changing heading. The top rudder simply provides enought lift to keep the airplane level. The side of a citabria will develop quite a large amount of lift when its on its side. So the combinations of the lift from the fuselage and the...

    Blue Angels lose one

Lead did not pull out too low, he had a loose bolt jam up his horizontal stab, and the other three in the formation are there to do only that...follow. If they focus on anything else but lead, they die. It was none of the pilots fault.

A drink from the Aerobatic fire hose

keeping the airplane level in a 90 degree turn is, as mentioned before, a matter of top rudder, hence the name 'knife edge flight' if you have enough energy, you can maintain level flight with top rudder. As far as snaps, in thoery, you can do them all day provided you keep below...

    Seaplaning over Lake Como

Give the folks at Sky Harbor Airport, Duluth, MN a call. I looked into getting my seaplane rating from those guys, and I seem to recall someone there saying that thye solo out their planes... They have a couple of cubs on floats that they use, and the rates seemed pretty reasonable as well...

    Ya' gotta trust the pilot

Kelly Air Park in Colorado, after a a huge blizzard... 36 foot wide runway was plowed out by about 20 feet, with a foot or less clearance beneath each wingtip from the snow banks, with a 20 kts crosswind in a champ...

For anyone wondering about Pioneer Airport as OSH, I called them today and they said they do not allow anyone to land their unless its a special event, such as the ski plane fly-in. If anyone knows anyway around it, I would love to hear it, but thats what i was told.... Jim

Anyone live in/around Del Rio, San Antonio, or Austin?

So get an airplane that cant actually carry anything besides a person? Sounds like kind of a dump as far as anything flying goes.
