From what I’ve seen on most 70-80’s Lances & Togas you either get a low SMOH time & need to update avionics or high SMOH time & might get some descent avionics but very few with both...unless your willing to increase your budget to 250-300K+...I’ve finally zeroed in on a Saratoga now just seeing...

You have the T Tail? I keep going back and forth on a Lance but hear not so great things about T Tails but they seem most prevalent on market right now. Togas seems to be a good 50-75K more...

That’s a question I’ll be asking the broker representing the aircraft when I call tomorrow. Just trying to be prepared in anything I should be asking when calling before I fly to go see in person.

Narrowing down my Saratoga search and ran across a possible potential aircraft. Question is MOH was done September 2017 and it only has 6 hours since it was completed. Would that concern anyone? Obviously I’ll need to see in person & review all records and ask why it hasn’t been being flown...

Piper Saratoga probably RG, NA engine. Still looking over a few different versions though...Would like to get ballpark insurance rates while doing all my homework right now.

I'm getting into the final stages of getting serious on making offers on a plane. Who do most of you use for aircraft insurance? I'm not sure if it matters but most of the year the plane would be hangered in Florida (Orlando area) and a few months up in Michigan. Thanks!

Thank you very much for the input. As for a Lance, what would be a typical cruise speed & gph? I have not looked at them, but just glancing now they seem like a great deal if their speed isn’t far off a Toga. Any reason in particular they are a fair amount less cost?

The long distance flights for the most part would be myself (commuting to Michigan and Florida for business) and maybe 1 or 2 times a year might include my family (wife and 3 kids- 8,6,2). Local flying is a mixed bag, usually at least 1 other person and possible could be my family or a few...
