    Transition from PA28 to RV-10

Bill Watson’s numbers are typical of mine too. Cruise 155-162 ktas @ 10-12 gph, 8500-12500’. Mine is built per Van’s plans. We still love it 6 years and 30 days since our first test flight. It was a two year “slow-build” with our two kids inserting rivets for Dad & Mom. Now that they are all...

What feature do you like about your house, garage, hangar, etc???

When I built our house, things I still like... Hot and cold water both to outdoor spigots. Security lights with three-way switches...one in MBR and one in utility rm. Lighted and floored attic. Lighted crawl space. Dual shower heads. 80 gal water heater. Copper water lines. No leaks after 17...

When is a private airstrip needed?

1500' of short dry grass would be my bare minimum at 2700 lbs gw. Getting out is no problem. That short wing is great at altitude, but not so much on landing with 54 kt stall.

Flight Following and when to get it it

You are correct about hdg and alt on most flights. My workload decreases when I'm not hearing, "Radar contact lost, garbled transmissions, try this freq, say intentions, do you have the weather, altimeter setting, etc". ATC is always great, but there are times when I am better off canceling FF...

Flight Following and when to get it it

When not to get FF...MVFR flying where you need to make heading and altitude changes, while monitoring weather.

    Latest WH Fence Climber

A 15,000 volt fence charger, gated drive and three big dogs seem to work well keeping bear, deer, coyote, fox and 2-legged animals out of my place. And if that doesn't work, I have something else that will.

    Army Grob Crash

I left Wiesbaden Germany for Ft Hood in 91 and I believe the OV-1 left from there around the same time. Cool bird.

    Army Grob Crash

Probably transitioning from rotary wing is easier and cheaper using these single engine training aircraft. I'd guess they are wanting to save tax dollars. Just my guess.
