    transition for a 152 to a 172

Two days ago I was finally able to go up for another lesson after a month. Thanks to mother nature and my work schedule I had to cancel the last two. My instructor told me a few days before that the 152 I typically trained in was down for maintenance, and offered to take the 172 instead. So with...

Training for ppl under multiple instructors??

About 9 hours in for my Private licence. Just recently got my medical certificate, and my current instructor says i should be ready to solo soon. To my knowledge my current instructor just writes down what we do in his and my log books, so my current FBO doesn't have folder system like that...

Training for ppl under multiple instructors??

So here is my situation, I've been slowly (as time and money allows) been taking lessons toward my PPL at an FBO close to home. However now I've been back at college this semester I've been having to drive home on weekends to continue my flight lessons which is about 100 miles. I'm enjoying...

    Aviation family?

My great grandfather was a pilot in WWII, flew C-47s. He had a old PA-28 Cherokee behind his house with an airfield. It needed to be rebuilt but the caner got him when I was 8 before that happened. Aviation still lingered in my family, always going to airshows and checking out airplanes...

Confidence is increased but still struggling with round out

My CFI has told me to wait until I'am over the numbers of the runway before I start reducing power. And I'm pretty sure he has only been instructing for only a year or so now.

Confidence is increased but still struggling with round out

Flying only a Cessna 152, probably keeping it around 65 to 70 KTS. or what ever my flight instructor tells to me to do. I had to adjust a lot yesterday we had an on and off crosswind out of the east and my approaches weren't the most stable. Its a working progress.

Confidence is increased but still struggling with round out

Yeah I actually wasn't too tired after this lesson. The one before we only did 12 landings and I was exhausted; grant it we had a nasty crosswind coming in from the northeast. But Yeah landing flat is a lot of it, sometimes I would take power out to soon causing the plane to hit pretty hard...

Confidence is increased but still struggling with round out

So today for the first time in a few weeks I was able to take to the skies out of KGMU to build some more time for my PPL. The last time I went up me and my CFI just worked in the traffic pattern doing touch and goes. We basically did the same thing today. Got about 16 landings in and about hour...

Cool Website to track all flights

I not sure if people on here are is big of an aviation geek as I am but I stumble upon this website called flightradar24.com and I thought it was pretty neat. Some of yall probably already know about it. For those who don't you should check it out...

    Career Pilot.....Counting the cost

Ok so I know this post probably belongs in "Pilot Training" but I really wanted to get this out on this forum because I feel like more people look at this Forum, and I really want some opinions from people who have been in the aviation world for a bit. (hang with me its going to be a long post)...

Starting to get the hang of rudder, now landings

I posted about a month ago a thread about me not being really good with the rudders on taxing and landing/takeoff. Mainly I rode the breaks during taxi and landing. I was I took some of ya'll advice and "nailed my heels to the floor" and it worked pretty well for me. I learned to trust the...

CFI Life... What is it like? Full time job?

Thank you all for the replies! And my degree I'm going to be graduating with in May is Physical Education so teaching isn't a problem for me. I really enjoy it. Thanks again for all the insight everyone.

CFI Life... What is it like? Full time job?

So I'm very far in my flight training from the point of being a CFI (only about 5 hours in on my PPL). But I'am very curious about what typical CFI pay/hours is like. Does it depend on where you instruct? Do people instruct as there full time job?(i think my CFI has another job as well)...

Rudder while take off and taxing

Thanks for all the replies everyone!! I'll definitely take these things into consideration next time I go up! I agree with the heel on the floor strategy and slowing taxi speed down. I'm hoping to go up a week from Friday so I'll keep everyone updated on how I do.
