I’m going to guess the person who leaked this isn’t going to like the attention they get. Almost like jumping out of an airplane to film it crashing.

There were a lot of fortunate people in that incident. It could have been MUCH worse.

I’ve flown Da-40s into and out of Leadville airport (9934’) many times. No issues. The wing is excellent. It’s close to a powered glider. It’s not especially fast, but I’ve had no problems flying them around the Rocky Mountains.

Seems like looping a tow strap around that wreckage and pulling it off the tracks might have been just as fast. But I obviously wasn’t there.

I was thinking the same thing. Of course, Elliot was actually competent. But the common theme is an electrical issue that ultimately killed the engine. I would LOVE to have one of those. But it appears I would need a lot of time, money and an excellent mechanic to keep things operating...

That sucks. It was a beautiful airplane. What a shame.
