    Advice for SSRI (antidepressant) SI

Thanks for asking! The antidepressant thing seems in the bag, with $1000 of tests that the docs laugh and say is a "formality". I also take a thyroid hormone replacement which my doctor is tweaking, and I need to be "stable on the medication" so I'm waiting till the dose is tweaked...

    Thyroid treatment post thyroid cancer

Ok so you're saying your level was not "stable" and they gave you a provisional while you stabilized it? Would you mind sharing (non-identifying, of course!) details of what exactly your situation was and what you had your doctor say to the FAA? That would be infinitely useful to me.... Kind...

Bigevil -- Just get a friend to fly you to KHES and then take a taxi for the last 5 miles. That's what I'm planning to do! :) http://goo.gl/maps/8dsmA -- Rivets

    Advice for SSRI (antidepressant) SI

Hi Bigevil, Sorry about your disappointing outcome. My AME (Dr Andolsen, see above) says he's shepherded 5 SSRI medicals through and is batting 5/5. I don't know where you live but from what you say, you should be the model of the person for whom the SSRI special issuance was designed. Well...

Thanks for the encouragement, Mule Renter! I guess the part about having the hormones under control is going to take some time. Wish me luck! :mad2: Rivets

Wow that's bad news. :( Oh well. The good news is that I'm perfectly healthy and from what you say and have said, I should have no problem certifying. Rivets

    Thyroid treatment post thyroid cancer

Cool thanks --- good to know! As for thyrotoxicosis changing the psych stuff, I suspect it did not/will not in my specific case. As for a certification consultant -- and I hope this information is useful to other folks here -- isn't that simply supposed to be your very own dearly beloved...

Got it -- thanks! While adjusting TSH over the next few months, will my SSRI psych stuff (CogScreen-AE, reports, ...) "expire" and have to be re-done?

    Thyroid treatment post thyroid cancer

Thanks Bruce (and hello again!). Do they need to see a *stable* level (i.e., a level + a promise that it is unlikely to change)? Or do they just need to see *some* level? Note the problem here is that there are adjustments ongoing. Do I have to wait till all the adjustments are complete?

    Thyroid treatment post thyroid cancer

Hi folks, I have another medical issue. I was diagnosed and treated for thyroid cancer in 2012. All scans clear so no remaining tumor (thankful for that!) but I am now euthryroid (don't have a thyroid gland) and so need thyroid hormone replacement. I see lots of posts about hypothyroidism...

    Advice for SSRI (antidepressant) SI

Progress so far (hi Bigevil!) -- * My AME, Dr Richard Andolsen of Healdsburg, CA, does not believe I need the testimony of a HIMS psychiatrist. I am willing to risk it because, given the background information I have, I know that all reports are going to be positive anyway. * All doctors...

    Advice for SSRI (antidepressant) SI

Here, by the way, are the latest cost estimates. So far, all my treating physicians have been able to supply reports at no additional cost. $ 550 CogScreen-AE $ 300 Neuropsychologist interview & report $1200 Forensic psychiatrist interview & report $ 250 HIMS AME visit $ 250...

    Advice for SSRI (antidepressant) SI

Update on my situation -- * The $550 neuropsych turned out to be on Bruce's HIMS list and agreed to do my interview and report for an additional $300. Sounds reasonable, I guess. * Thanks Bruce for the tip about a HIMS psychiatrist. I will find one from the list and contact them asap. *...

    Advice for SSRI (antidepressant) SI

Thank you Dr Bruce! Apologies if I flaked out on that last part. I have honestly been going at this for months and months. Literally. I'm ready to be done with paperwork and go flying. Thanks again for the help! -- Rivets

    Advice for SSRI (antidepressant) SI

Ok then. Let me explain. I took the CogScreen-AE with a neuropsych who is based far away from me but who is listed on the set of HIMS assets you sent (thanks!). That was my $550 testing. I scored with an LRPV between 0.15 and 0.18 (exact score redacted for anonymity). The neuropsych...
