yeah i'm saying what if there was a layer over the south side of the hill and clear in the valley. those hills popping through the layer are very dark. i can just see an illusion causing a CFIT
when you consider that this flight had the PIC making radio calls until shortly before impact and a...
what always amazed me about this stunt was how little thought he put into hiding his true intentions and how stupid he thinks people are
like he put two fire extinguishers in his pant legs and set off on a flight to Mammoth without his ski gear wearing a parachute. hmmmmmmmm. i don't think...
don't see any evidence so far that they were scud running though
there were low ceilings at SMO/CMA but seems like the tops were quite low and possibly lower than the hill he hit. to me it would seem they just descended into the blackness of the hill
it's surprising to me how many here are wanting to create work for themselves
the FAA took the complaints of their somewhat vague original AD and made a flowchart to really spell it out for people. basically saying to anybody who hasn't changed their crankshaft in the past 2 years that they...
they updated it, changing the number, and added a couple of engine models
for the people who need things explicitly spelled out to them they even added a flowchart! ;)

you do you
again, i'm responding to the person that suggested they weren't sure if this applied to them and hadn't touched their engine or crankshaft in over a decade. clearly it doesn't apply to them based on the SB. sure, check the serial # to be sure
you sound like whoever came up with...
do you actually believe that the FAA intends for every single person with a Continental engine to make a logbook entry stating it doesn't apply, even though it applies to <2k engines
yeah i just meant logically for the user complaining that they didn't know their crank serial. i'm pointing out...
I know it's an "or"
Disclaimer: Assume I am totally wrong
But if you read the details from Continental you can see that the only crankshafts affected which are included in that serial # list were manufactured/assembled after June 1, 2021 by Continental. If that information is wrong, then the...
i don't understand your concern at all
Go check your engine serial number. If you don't have your crankshaft serial number handy, was it installed after June 1, 2021? No? Then you're fine
yep. and something sensible like regulations to reduce fuel spillage after minor to moderate incidents makes a lot of sense.
adding a system to purge fuel...not so much
