Veterans Stay Free on Veterans Day

I wish my plane wasn't down for maintenance or we (Wife & I) would be there. We stayed at Amelia's Landing several months ago and highly recommend it. We are looking forward to going back and enjoying another stay there. B)

    For my 7 year-old Niece

How do you think airplanes take off from aircraft carriers? They get thrown into the wind. B)

    For my 7 year-old Niece

But the airplane in that episode reached a faster speed forward than the treadmill's was going backwards so the relative wind became enough for it to fly. If that treadmill would have been at 50mph that airplane would not have gone anywhere. The ultra-light pilot in that episode didn't...

    For my 7 year-old Niece

No. An airplane flies due to relative wind over the wing regardless of what is happening across the ground. If the treadmill is going backwards at the same speed the airplane is "trying" to move forward the relative wind speed is 0 and it goes nowhere. But if the airplane moves forward faster...

    ELT transmitting question

If ATC asks you to check 121.5 for them, you might not be the only aircraft they are asking. With multiple aircraft in different locations reporting "loudness" they can tell if the signal is valid and get a rough idea of where the signal is comming from. This starts "narrowing" the location for...

    TRIO Autopilot Mandatory Service Bulletin

I don't know if this has already been posted but I found this on the TRIO Autopilot webpage: Out of a fielded population of over 3,000 Gold Standard servos, we have recently been notified of two instances where the pressed pin in the hub (behind the crank-arm) has worked loose in the hub. We...

Do you use a digital logbook application?

I use an Excel spreadsheet. Then every 10-20 flights I make a print out and staple it to my "logbook". Keeps the math correct and easy for any hand written endorsement.

    Etiquette question regarding landing fees

I completely avoid any airport with a landing fee. Ramp/tie-down/overnight fees are a different story. If more of us did the same, these airports would change their policy.

    GO PRO Cameras

My GoPro1 is mounted with a suction cup inside the cockpit and the video is excellent. For audio I use a Sony digital recorder connected to a passenger headset jack with an adapter. This is the recorder I have but just about any one will work...

    The Last C-141

I had the honor to be a tiny part of this magnificent aircraft's legacy during Iraqi Freedom/Enduring Freedom. We used it for the Aeromedical Evacuation mission from Ramstein AFB to Andrews AFB during the summer of 2003.

    Change in logbook carrying interpretation?

 EXACTLY what I would do.

    Change in logbook carrying interpretation?

The DHS document mentioned here from the Air and Marine Operations Center specifically states: ***CAVEAT*** Although Federal Law requires the possesion of, and display upon demand of the aforementioned documents; THERE IS NO CRIMINAL PENALTY SECTION TO THIS LAW. It is therefore not an...

Buying my first EAB....where to go to get smart?

You can also go to the homebuilt section of this forum or a homebuilder forum. You will find lots of information. If you ask questions, someone will eventually answer it. Also, check with your local EAA chapter. THEY will provide excellent information. Not exactly true. If you don't have the...
