    Personal Flight Tracking

Since my checkride, I feel like I want to memorialize every flight I take as a private pilot. (Yes, I'm still very, very excited). Inspired by the little maps some people have in their PoA sigs, showing what states they've flown to, I wondered if anyone has tracked it with more detail, and how...

LOL, directly related to your first two visits...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

I took the day off of work tomorrow, as did my wife, and like an idiot I checked the airplane reservation website, and the plane I fly is free ALL DAY. The problem? My flying budget currently (for the next 2 weeks or so) has $0 in it. Womp womp. Also: while I'm not going for my instrument...

To become a student pilot or not become one....

THIS THIS THIS THIS. If you go flying 2-3 times with someone and it doesn't feel right, or if they straight-up suck the joy out of flying, SWITCH INSTRUCTORS.

    Post disaster relief flights

Yeah, that's about the silliest thing I've ever heard. FEMA is a coordination agency; they coordinate the efforts of other groups/agencies/assets. They don't have helicopters; the Guard does. They don't have drones;CBP does. They don't have fixed-wing; CAP does. Before a coming disaster, they...

One Zulu Delta: A Student Pilot Adventure

Great advice!!! I figure if I ever do any aerobatics courses I'll also do whatever upset/spin recovery course they have on offer, because that's really my reason for doing it, not to learn loops, etc. Also, I'm pretty sure there are a ton of glider operations in New York State, not that far from...

    Am I Too Cautious?

Do you care what other pilots think? I guess I'd rather feel a little silly than a lot dead. I plan on not doing a lot of stuff til I have more experience. Also, if your fiancee is an external pressure (let's see... Pilot, Airplane, enVironment, fiancEe) maybe that's more of the problem that...

    Post disaster relief flights

ALL. OF. THIS. Please. (This is a general rant, and not a specific response to your admirable concern and desire to help @AggieMike88 ) No, it doesn't hurt to ask, but above is the best answer. Donate, or volunteer for the Red Cross or something similar. That would have FAR more of an impact...

One Zulu Delta: A Student Pilot Adventure

I did a little bit more writing to answer a lot of the questions family and friends have post-checkride, about WHAT'S NEXT: http://onezuludelta.com/whats-next-for-me-as-a-private-pilot

    Daily Pic

I was at Griffiss Airport in Rome, NY (RME) when a gaggle of warbirds showed up, delayed by weather on their way to an airshow (in Maine, I believe). What an experience to be able to wander right up to these gorgeous machines!

New Job 2 - Electric Boogaloo

It's creeping me out how much this sounds like my previous job. I felt exactly like you did and went into the exit interview hoping to give constructive feedback. I realized 2 minutes in that the boss wasn't listening and was just being defensive about everything and not taking anything I said...

Gasp! End of the magenta line???????

Have any of you used the AR portion of the Flightradar24 app? This looks like it'll do sort of the same thing, but with airports instead of airplanes. Neat for now, but I'm sure someone will come up with a much more useful version in 5-10 years.
