Sounds like a likely contender. There's no smoking gun that is for sure a smoking gun. My thought is that because the event started promptly after leaning to 100 ROP that the injector was partially occluded producing a lean enough mixture to promote detonation, potentially promoted by the...
Definitely can be a source of a lean mixture in one cylinder.
What do you think the CHT and EGT would do if the resulting mixture happen to be at peak EGT for that cylinder?
My suggestion is that the EGT would rise to the normal peak EGT you would see, the CHT would drift higher than the other...
I hope an engine guru here can help me with a question regarding a problem I had with my IO-360-A3B6D . It has 1100 hours SMOH.
I was flying my Mooney at 4000 feet, 24 inches manifold pressure, 2400 RPM, 100 degrees rich of peak. A few minutes later I experienced engine roughness developing...
How about northwest Wyoming? Looking at the sectional, there are some MEFs out there that are scary to a Plains flyer but if it is flyable that might be a round trip worth doing?
By the way, a trip from Chicago to STP or SGS for a visit to the Mall of America sounds like a good evening trip for Chicagoans. Or even MSP, you could quite literally walk from there albeit $xx lighter with the fees. STP prob best, short drive in their Jaguar crew car.

I use Signature, they're very nice. Yes fuel is high but top off at your airport, get a topoff there or whatever minimum is (I top off just to be courteous) and they will waive all fees and hand you the keys to one of their Lincolns which is what I generally do. I took the Chicago "L" train one...
I routinely fly from STC to MDW (2.5 hours and 201nm each way) after work just for fun, dinner, museums etc. which means a return home by 2am. So I'm crazy but just wondering what RT flights others are doing "after work in time to be home same day" (or wee hours next day)

I discovered that accidentally as I saw the strobe effect lessen as the sun went down.
Other options:
1) Ignore it
2) Embrace it as "cool"
3) External mount - planning that and worried about what it will say about my landings.
4) Buy a twin
That "jelly shaking" can be reduced greatly...
One other wild card is that ADS-B with Aspen-supported hardware may well share XM weather data on all devices such as your 430W, of course the Aspen, and an iPad. Or so my spies tell me. I'm on the sidelines paying my XM Master Mariner for my 496. It is actually nice having that separate screen...
@Henning, I agree with you that there's no reason why the ADS-B system couldn't send out the data every 30 seconds or so. No way that the system is so marginal that this would make a difference, it'd be no different from one more airplane pinging periodically. Therefore either the FAA is stupid...
First the ADS-B traffic issue and Foreflight. As I understand it, the traffic information from the ADS-B network is only sent out In response to a ping from and ADS-B OUT device in the neighborhood. The devices available for us mortals are non-certificated receivers only that send out no such...
