    GPS backup

Size 4.5 x 2 x 1 in Weight 0.25 lbs Enclosure Aluminum Hm....awful lot like a stratus but the connectivity is another issue. I wonder what the positioning requirements are compared to a portable AHRS.

    GPS backup

Didn't learn about NDB? Just tune to your local AM station and practice. Of course that assumes you've got an ADF in the airplane. I keep my ADF so I can listen to the ball games. Plus once I get near the KOA tower (630 on your AM dial) I can probably see the approach to rwy 28 at KAPA. Park the...

    GPS backup

Which means someone, somewhere, will put together a package for a tablet. Same idea as the stratus software with a couple SDRs for a Rasperry Pi.

I recognize that disk drive! I have a platter I show in my intro to computer science class. Also have mag tapes, too. Tossed allthe punch cards years ago.

    EAA life membership value?

I'd like to go back and concentrate on computers that still used core memory and punch cards and took up an entire room just for the mainframe and you had to boot the system by setting switches on the panel, but the technology has advanced and so has the world. I'm definitely not the target...

What would you have done? Inclement weather coming.

There's a flyin this weekend, one I've been looking forward too, only an hour's flight. But the late afternoon return means rain, wind and possible tstorms. I don't have weather radar but the iPad with ForeFlight and GarminPilot are pretty good indicators. I'll either be driving or not going...

    Part 61 - Number of CFI's

That gross, oversimplification is definitely unfair to both the Part 61 people and to the student.

Back pressure needed on takeoff & landings in a C172

Doesn't matter if it was only the 2 of you...it's the weight in front and you really should do a W&B.

How to almost die in the mountains

Let me be very candid he was flying a 152 and following I-70 over Loveland Pass. He was stupid. Incredibly stupid. As per the ADSB track, over Breck he was over 13K. I will buy a beer for every member of POA if anyone can take a 152 up there, in Colorado, on a July summer day. I've taken my 180...
