My Attempt at a $115 ADS-B Receiver Build for Foreflight

Yep, too much lost profit. I will hold off for a few months and see how it plays out.

    St. Maarten (TNCM) Rentals?

Will be going to St. Maarten next April for a week and I would love to do a bit of GA flying around the area. No plans to get checked out, just fly with a CFI for a couple of hours. My search hasn't turned up much in the way of rentals at TNCM for TFFG. Most of the contacts I've found were...

Scud-running: Definitely Bad, but is it legal?

I (may have, theoretically) done something similar as a brand new PPL as well. With building thunderstorms. At night. And no GPS. :yikes: Of course it was all unintentional, and was a good lesson in go/no-go decisions. Had another pilot (student, though) helping work the second VOR to keep...

    New type of space propulsion?

I've written a few papers on magnetoplasmadynamics in college (engineering major). These types of engines are good for VERY long flights, where the difference acceleration makes on the overall time traveled is reasonably negligible. Just for transit to Mars? Not likely with anything I've...

    Has Scientific Notation Changed???

You're right on the first, wrong on the second. The main point of scientific notation is one to easily right very large or small numbers, and second to indicate significant digits. Say you have the number 2000. With 1 significant digit you can write it 2000 or 2*10^3 With 2 significant...

Does Anyone On Here Fly RC Airplanes?

I flew RC helos for a while a few years ago, got way too expensive. Currently I'm finishing up a design for an RC plane I plan to build this coming semester. I'm using a material called coroplast, it's corrugated plastic. Pretty strong and quite light. Planning to use a 10A brushless motor...

    Looking towards the future...

Embry riddle...hahahaha Don't come here for that degree. There are two degrees worth doing here: Engineering Physics and Aerospace Engineering. Get yourself a business degree.

We're bombing the moon tomorrow (Friday) 0731 EDT

Unfortunately with the strongest ion thruster in existence it would take over 10 trillion years to stop the moon from escaping. :nonod:

    Anyone here play bagpipes?

I didn't see anything in St. Charles, but there is plenty in Chicago. You have two Grade 2 bands (second from the top, less than a dozen in the US) in Chicago. I see that one practices in Riverside. Contact both of them and see if you can find someone within a reasonable distance from you...

    Anyone here play bagpipes?

Can't believe I missed this one... I'm a grade 3 piper, have won multiple gold medals in competition and I instruct on the pipes for the local pipe band. I also play and instruct on the snare in our band. I have a bad feeling you bought a set of pakistani pipes, which are ALL complete trash...

    Amazing animation

It's not really that special. It's not hard to do at all, just time consuming. Build the individual components and then assemble. Assign each component a vector the exploded view, and then record the animation of the assembly. We did something similar in high school with some less complex.

    Singing during CPR

Breaking ribs is a perfectly natural thing with CPR, in fact I was told if you don't break the sternum from the ribs you probably aren't doing it right. As to the song, my EMT instructors played "Another One Bites the Dust" for those who couldn't get the right speed. Tim, I was told without...
