    B17 crash at Dallas.

The telemetry has that pretty certain, unfortunately.

    B17 crash at Dallas.

Hopefully not one that would result in these background flights leaving the crowds. Hopefully any resulting changes wait until an investigation and lessons learned, such that they can be meaningful rather than knee jerk in response to public panic. The age of social media sure changes the flow...

    Transponder whine?

Is there a fan in the transponder that may be causing it?

    Fighter jets scrambled over DC

How often does this actually happen, though? I can't imagine it's a particularly rare event, even though I imagine nearly all are simple mistakes.

    [NA]Berkeley bans "gendered" words[NA]

No, you're not thinking about this world. You're forgetting about the third dimension. When I get home, I'll build a model.

And rotate it point-out, a leg against the midpoint of a leg of the frame, and all of a sudden the triangle has a shorter dimension.

The more I think about it, the more I realize he's right... if we include a tether. But then we open the door to all kinds of shapes, including random shapes made with crayon.

Only an equilateral triangle would benefit from what you're talking about, and even it could fall through the frame if it's rotated appropriately as it falls.

Running engine for a short time

I agree with you. The law doesn't say no, so it's not illegal, thus it's legal. I'm just saying that there *could* be local rules/law/ordinance to that effect. Local rules can add additional burden beyond the law as well, since it's not illegal for them to add local rules. That being said...

Running engine for a short time

The fact that there's no intended flight backs his point of no certificate required. Since there's no federal prohibition (nor explicit allowance), we're left looking at lower jurisdictions. Since there are thousands of airports and airport authorities that could create such rules, it wouldn't...

    G5 and early Cirrus?

Sure, but the G5 is entirely internally contained. It has no standalone antennas. So long as the installation uses a navigator that plays nice with FIKI, how would a G5 change the compliance story?

    G5 and early Cirrus?

Fair point, I guess I just didn't want to think about it that way lol. G500/600s for everybody!
