Jepp Subscription costs with Garmin vs Avidyne glass

I searched and found nothing so... for those that fly primarily in the east/middle Atlantic states, is there a cost difference in what it takes to keep the nav and airport databases current with these two platforms? It's really hard (for me) to figure out by just looking at the Jepp website...

    Hearing Protection Headphones for Toddler

Before headphones were so "everywhere"... my kids (even as infants) used what was then called Lee Sonic Ear Plugs. They came in three sizes (S,M, and L). I even had to use a Small because of the size of my ear canal. They still might be better than full headsets for the little folks because...

What documentation to take to AME for a"healed" ulcer

Thank you, Denverpilot and, thank you, Dr. Chien!!! I like the idea of the occult wipe. Should I take my most recent labs with me showing Hgb is now ~13+? I'll call my doc tomorrow to see if I can arrange another short visit. (I went nuts over the weekend trying to find a way to get to you...

What documentation to take to AME for a"healed" ulcer

The post above was from me... Main thing in the AME Guide is: "Evidence of healing must be verified by a report from the attending physician that includes the following information: * Confirmation that the applicant is free of symptoms * Radiographic or endoscopic evidence that the ulcer has...

What documentation to take to AME for a"healed" ulcer

For any AME on the forum >>> Doc… I know that the FAA gets a bit concerned about certain conditions such as – in my case – an ulcer bleed. I had a surprise ulcer bleed last October (with hospitalization), as a result of my stupidly taking 2 full strength aspirins every day for several months...

Flying Again - MzeroA DVD - Jason Schapert

"Daddy sold out and retired." Family operation became a business-only and therefore not as interesting as it had been.

My flying has gone to the dogs

Not to hijack the thread but to "ride along" with it... What kind of restraint do you use for the dog? I originally thought I would use a crate but am thinking she could ride on the back seat or floor of a Piper Saratoga. Thanks!!!

When is it cost effective to hangar your plane

Just checked... still a long wait-list for a $500+/month single hanger and near $400/month for shared hanger space. Tie-downs are available for $110/month. For tie-downs, has anyone ever used "wing covers" for hail protection? I have been thinking that they might work.

    New App provides "visual METARS"

Right now it's a 7 day trial..... In your excellent YouTube video (at about 2:43), you say "3 months."

    New App provides "visual METARS"

I just scanned this thread and did not find a reference to Paxton's intro for this app on YouTube. A very good 3-minute intro... Given that some folks love raw text, others translations, this looks to be the next step... and you can still see the raw text if that's what you want. I...

    Avidyne's new IFD 550

For anyone else, like me, considering swapping out their Garmin 430/530 pair with Avidyne "440/540" units, I just found out about Avidyne's IFD 550. It can do synthetic vision functions like their Entegra R9 big sibling. They keep adding a lot of the R9 functions to the IFD boxes...

    Just acquired an iPad

Ditto for FlyQ. These folks are great and just formally added support for Stratux.
