I second the cables. I had the same problem.

There is no internal magnetometer in the av30. It is a "magnetic sensor" (per uavionics tech support) which doesn't seem to do anything. They are aiming for certification for the external magnetometer spring of next year.

I've bought several avionics off ebay with good results. Only one bad experience out of 8 and ebay forced the refund for me.

I did. I also scrolled down in other publications and read how the problem was fixed with firmware updates and internal sensors. I have emails from them assuring me that the problem was fixed and then offered 5% off if I buy two.

Interesting point you make. They know there is a problem with precession and yet they are telling perspective customers that the problem is fixed with the 2.1.2 firmware update and the addition of a "magnetic sensor". I have emails from a certain individual from Uavionics stating just that to me.

What good is an autopilot linked to the heading bug of an AV30 DG that processes 35 degrees in a half hour?

Too bad there's no way to make the GPS heading adjustable so we can offset it for magnetic variation.

I wonder how many firmware updates have been announce to "improve performance in DG mode" there has been. I know of 3 myself. I really want to like these units. The precession is the only thing that keeps me from shouting it from the rooftops. Maybe the 2.1.4 update will make a difference...
