    Wheelchair Plane Options

My wife is in a wheelchair and we've made it work with a C172. I have to help push her up as she pulls herself in but it's doable for us. I'm able to take the wheels off the chair and fit the frame through the cargo door. The wheels then go through the cabin and I drop them behind the back seat...

    Flight NY to Florida. 6/1/2020

Coming from New York you will be legally required to self-quarantine for two weeks. It'll be pretty hard for them to enforce it given your method of transportation but it is the law. Southern Florida is the hardest hit part of the state. I'm in central Florida and it never got that bad here. My...

    Pilot falls asleep, misses destination

I can't make sense of this crash

Spin training isn't required for anything but the CFI rating. It used to be required but the FAA decided it wasn't worth the risk. It's also horrible for the gyro instruments in the airplane. The newer G1000 C172's aren't even spin certified.

I can't make sense of this crash

I remember reading years ago that there has never been a C172 structural failure when flown within airspeed and G limits. I'm not sure if this is true or just an urban legend.

Babys in planes- car seats, strollers, etc

I have 2, one for each car. They are definitely easy to install, especially with LATCH (which I don't think you'll find in any plane) but it's still pretty easy with a seat belt. I haven't flown with my daughter yet (she's only 8 weeks), but when I do I'll need to install the base in the back of...

Babys in planes- car seats, strollers, etc

We got the Chicco Keyfit30 car seat because it's suppose to be the easiest one to install. The problem with using that car seat in a rental plane is that the car seat can only be used without the base if the seat it's installed in has a shoulder harness that can be manually locked from extending...

    Something seems amiss...

I wish they had that at BID or ACK where the paved ramp fills up and we often have to park on the grass. My wife uses a wheelchair (yes you can get a wheelchair through the cargo door of a C172), and it's a real hassle for her to push on grass.

At some point a parent has just got to let them fail I guess

Check back with me too. My daughter (first kid) was born 5 weeks ago.

I feel very lucky to have a job with no set start time. I could show up at 6 am or at 10 am if I feel like it. I usually aim for the middle.

87-year-old pilot dies after plane crashes into trees at Bolivar golf course

He was flying an LSA so he didn't need BasicMed to conduct this flight.

    7600 is not for VFR

That's true and it's one reason I don't bother with flight plans, but I also have loved ones that always know where I'm going and when I should be there.

    7600 is not for VFR

Most of the TRACON's and Towers are using STARS (which I work on) and a 7600 code will just cause the track to display a red "NR" next to it for "no radio". I don't think it's distracting at all. It does sound a pretty obnoxious alarm but that can be quickly muted.

Unless you crash and end up injured in the middle of nowhere and would like someone to come rescue you...
