    COVID Vaccine FAQ

There is no shortage of Nursing Assistants and up qualified to give vaccinations around here. As a physician, I don't think I have ever given a shot of any kind in my career. Certainly doesn't look like I need to start now.

    COVID Vaccine FAQ

I got my second vaccination last week. Arm didn't hurt, but about 18 hours late I was running a little fever and had associated muscle aches. That lasted about 6 hours...when I woke up next morning, I felt fine. The other day, my wife happened to notice on the local hospital's Facebook page...

Those of you on Basic Med, was your Doc OK with it?

Not common knowledge at all. And definitely not something that most primary care doctors are going to be interested in. Many or most will perceive that they are being asked to certify a patient as medically fit to fly an airplane. They will often give that exam a hard pass and go on to the next...

    737-500 missing out of Jakarta

 of course it's not an SD card. Otherwise, I'm relying on Juan Brown as my source rather than this website. Juan generally seems to provide pretty good info on this stuff. go to 0:27

    737-500 missing out of Jakarta

They didn’t find the memory component from the CVR, however (as of yesterday). Sound’s like ol’ SD card popped right out of the socket. Might be hard to find on the bottom of the ocean, I would think.

Disastrous First (and Last) Annual - Advice Needed

The OP could just let it slide...avoid the hassle and skip the attorney and/or the FSDO. Of course...that would also prevent 4 different AP/IA’s from getting an apparently badly-needed slap upside the head as a reminder that they have a serious job, and that people’s lives depend on them doing...

“Suspected” Afib leads to Waste of $$$$ and Spec. Issuance

I can’t keep up with the thread of the conversation, Bruce. Now we’re following money?

“Suspected” Afib leads to Waste of $$$$ and Spec. Issuance

Odd that you think that. Anyway, the electrophysiology doesn’t matter. The failure here, and what you apparently aren’t grasping that I’m saying, is that the failure isn’t the watch...it’s a rudimentary device. The failure is the patient’s doctor that took the watch’s word for it as the sole...

    Engine Dehumidifier DIY

I’m currently using this pump. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081DY21RZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The main attraction is that it has a chamber with a barbed fitting on the intake for the return line. Easier to do a closed circuit. Even the 32 watt version is...

“Suspected” Afib leads to Waste of $$$$ and Spec. Issuance

Uh huh. Thanks for the lesson in rudimentary cardiac electrophysiology. I think that you think that I am defending the Apple watch as a medical device. I’m not, but tell me about the “needless troubles” you assert that the watch causes?

“Suspected” Afib leads to Waste of $$$$ and Spec. Issuance

I don't know what you're responsible for. You indicted the watch. I'm saying it was the doctor that failed if he/she initiated treatment on info from the watch alone. You didn't specify what kind of "needless trouble" Apple Watches have caused these guys you were referring to. I'd be interested...

    Engine Dehumidifier DIY

My system as well. After each flight, I do the same purge using a beach toy inflator as soon as I get the plane in the hangar. This morning I noted that the ambient humidity in my hangar was 64%, the humidity in the dessicant chamber was 12%, and the return (coming from the oil separator) was 15%.

Thinking of downsizing to a fun 2 seater

I get all that. An appropriate set of concepts for some people I’m sure, but you and I are on completely different pages when it comes to “missions” and the airplanes that we want to own. Fortunately, there are airplanes on the market that can suit a variety of needs - your’s, mine, and the...

Thinking of downsizing to a fun 2 seater

Yes. The old 4's and 6's are definitely cheaper. The ones I looked at, however, did tend to have higher TT and relatively rudimentary panels. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I was looking for a little more sophistication in instrumentation that would match my mission...going...

Thinking of downsizing to a fun 2 seater

It's not exactly a buyer's market these days...It appears to me that $100K for a reasonably-equipped RV7 or -7A might be a tad optimistic. Most of the 7s and 9s I see these days are in the $120k - $140k private sale.
