Are FAA part 121 ground incidents on the rise?

I’m not sure but there does seem to be a lot more vehicle traffic in and around the aircraft when flying commercial than there used to be 10 or 15 years ago. You used to only see luggage carts, fuel trucks and catering driving around. Now there seems to be all sorts of random cars and trucks...

What kept you going through training?

What kept me motivated? Money. I spent far too much money pre solo to not at least finish out the license. It would be hard to admit to myself, my wife and others after spending thousands of dollars that I just quit because it got difficult. It sounds to me like you just need to find your...

    HIMS process hell

Sure they do. Nobody forced him to take the first, second, or thousandth drink. He consciously chose to pick up the bottle at some point and consciously chose alcohol over a flying career. Maybe he took it too far and was having trouble living without the effects of alcohol or maybe he was...

    HIMS process hell

Having to deal with the HIMS program is certainly a consequence of him deciding to become an alcoholic. It was a choice he made at some point. If you think it’s a disease and not a choice then you would also have to admit that he can not be cured and is only sober because he chose differently...

    HIMS process hell

With all the complaints around here about the HIMS program or other FAA requirements nobody wants to discuss the fact that there are alot of pilots that were or are flying that shouldn't have been. They come on here mad at the FAA for having to jump.through hoops to keep flying but completely...

    Which torque wrench?

It depends on what you are torquing and how accurate it needs to be. Torquing the lug nuts on your car and any 1/2” clicker style will work. Torquing the rocker arm bolts on your engine and you will want a smaller 3/8 wrench and not a clicker. I did a pretty extensive study of torque wrenches...

Getting share price down for flying clubs

The monthly expenses for Club 1 seem very high at 45000 a year especially since they already have a substantial amount in the back. What you don’t list are the hourly costs and that could make a big difference. Are you only paying for gas in Club 1 and if not then what does that $45,000 go...

Fact or Fiction: FAA Continues to Remove Barriers/Reduce Stigma for Mental Illness in Pilots

Or maybe their stance is already correct and no change is needed. Do you really want someone who is dependent on taking a drug every day to stay mentally stable or someone with a history of depression or someone who is not able to stay focused on the task at hand at random times flying an...

String of commercial airliner mishaps continues...

I can confirm this. The fan case is wrapped in a Kevlar type material and the High Pressure Case and Turbine exhaust cases are all thick and designed to be the containment structure for those modules. The Nacelle does little to nothing for containment.

    My Glider Club Impressions...

Racisim goes botb ways. It seems like the only person being racist here is you. Just because a white person or person of skin color other than yours asks you as a new glider club member what your plans are or comment that a $140k plane is expensive doesn't mean it has anything to do with race...

PPL still the way to go under MOSAIC?

Why not build a custom plan with one of the instructors where they teach you the basics first (pattern work through solo) and then you decide if you want to continue on to a PPL or transition to a light sport plane and finish out your sport pilot license. It would give you another 6 months to...

    Auto conversion ideas

Yeah but it has also weeded out engineers and pilots like myself who are actively working on new experimental aircraft and auto conversions. At one point it was a great site. Now I have no idea if there are even still enough knowledgeable people on there to make it worth joining and I'm not...

    Auto conversion ideas

Just realized that the only way to access those forums as a new member now is by paying $99 a year. They grandfathered many people in but if you didn't already have an account they now charge a yearly fee to post or read anything. It used to be a great site but unfortunately the owner got...

That’s what happens when all you read are the highly moderated Viking forums that censor anyone who has anything remotely negative to say about their experience with the company or the motor.
