    From actually doing it myself I know it was possible with both of my P337s. I also know the POH of a normally aspirated one demonstrates the ability to climb with the rear engine feathered too so I wouldn't put much stock in a random video on the internet as gospel.

    Neither statement is correct. There is a required placard that mandates leading with the rear engine on takeoff, then add power on the front engine. See photo. Power comes off both engines equally upon landing. It is very easy to tell which engine failed - simply look at the fuel flow first...

    IPC or CFII as a safety pilot?

    I get asked for my last IPC every time I complete any insurance application that I'm a named pilot on. Currently, that's three airplanes. But then again, the least complex airplane of those is a Mooney 231. (P210 and 310 are the others). Maybe in a 172 or equivalent, they wouldn't be asking.
