    Does AvGas 100LL hurt paint?

So you overfill your wing tanks and a bunch of 100LL goes rolling down your wing. Do you immediately grab a bottle of water and rinse it down? Or is 100LL much less volatile to paint that car gasoline is?

Any good shops to spot repair filiform corrosion?

Thanks guys. Any recommendations for who can do this in the southeast USA or central or southwest USA?

Any good shops to spot repair filiform corrosion?

I've got a spot of filiform corrosion on the top of my horizontal stabilizer that have grown in the past six months (see image that shows Oct 2023 on left and today on right), and I'd like to get it repaired before it gets any bigger. I just don't want to have a 1-inch x 1-inch square where it's...

An extraordinarily bizarre airspeed mystery that no A&P can solve

Rudder trim was maxed out and ball was still 2/5 out. Less than max rudder trim causes the ball to go out of the lines even more.

An extraordinarily bizarre airspeed mystery that no A&P can solve

Yes, fixing the rigging will probably make me fly faster. But I'm not going to ignore the current issue and just focus on other ways to increase speed. That's just not how I do things -- give up on what the problem is and try to get the result through other ways. First, I fix the existing...

An extraordinarily bizarre airspeed mystery that no A&P can solve

Interesting theory. As a low-wing with bubble canopy, I have exceptional view of the tops of both wings in flight and haven't seen anything that could be sticking up in flight. I don't have any gap seal on any of my wings, either. But maybe something is going on under the wing. Unlikely, but I...

An extraordinarily bizarre airspeed mystery that no A&P can solve

On my next flight, I'm going to fly with a belly mounted GoPro to check if the nose wheel is flying askew, and with a TruTach II to ensure prop RPM is correct. But after those tests are done, I'm not sure where else to go with this. I've spent dozens of hours in my head trying to figure out what...

An extraordinarily bizarre airspeed mystery that no A&P can solve

Yes. No change to airspeed. Only thing it did was improve ground handling when pushing back without a tow bar as the wheel doesn’t change direction as easily.

Definitely not ghosted, Jeff. There's just nothing new to report yet.

An extraordinarily bizarre airspeed mystery that no A&P can solve

Just removed the nose pant and torqued the nose wheel bolt so it requires exactly 13 lbs of force to move in either direction. Previously, it was moving with just 3-4 lbs and the maintenance manual says it should be 13 lbs. What's fascinating is that particular bolt is among the most sensitive...

There are only two other examples in the USA so hard to answer that question. No, was not able to increase speed by flying coordinated.
