    Another one of those pesky FF/FA threads

    I think it has more to do with where you start your FF. If you start in Center's airspace, it seems to track it. If you start in TRACON airspace and then get handed off, it doesn't seem to track you. I think it has to do with whether the flight plan gets entered into Center's ERAM computer first.

    Phoenix Approach gets their feed from several sites. We run a "fused" RADAR system on STARS terminal displays. There are sites at PHX, IWA, LUF, SDL, and PHX LRR. So we pretty much have RADAR down to the ground everywhere in the Valley. That being said, FF would not just be predicated on RADAR...

    "Climb via" question

    As controllers, there are only two ways to state this: "climb via SID, except maintain XXX altitude". The pilot must comply with all published restrictions, with a new top altitude. Or: "climb and maintain XXX" The pilot will climb at their discretion to the altitude issued...

    "Please call the tower..."

    You guys crack me up! ATC does NOT enforce the FARs! All we do is gather the information. It then goes to quality assurance, and then eventually to FSDO. They are the ones that decided your fate. Rotor & Wing is pretty much correct in the whole process... As a FAA supervisor in Phoenix...

    This is incorrect....GA can never go in the 10nm ring. Scheduled air carrier, cargo, or approved medevac flights only.

    KIWA Class "C"??

    Where have you heard this? Link? This has been talked about before. One problem you have here at Gateway Airport...this a contract tower. I believe they would be the first in the nation to have a Class C as a contract tower. Not sure if the FAA would be good with this. I know...
