    The "Royal We"

In my 28 years as an aviator so far, only about 150 hours has it been just “I” in the aircraft. All other times, there’s a “we.” So yeah, I get it.

    Radon

Interesting read here about the closing of envelopes, to “tightening” and potential negative effects. Still haven’t found the other case study. I think it was in Philly in the 70s…

    Radon

Reminds me of a study / occurrence back in the ‘70s that led to ACH requirements. I don’t recall the specifics, it’s been a while

    Radon

Interesting. It was only emerging in the mid-aughts in the Chicagoland area. I remember Naperville created an ordinance mandating for “envelope testing” as part of the purchase / sale of a home about 15 years ago. At a premium of about $30k for the mitigation guys.

    Radon

Both fair points, and you learn something everyday. What always rubbed me the wrong way was the flimsy and aggressive marketing from the radon mitigation contractors, that seemingly sprouted up overnight, and the politically charged rules and regulations that appeared in municipalities...

    Radon

I managed construction for almost 20 years, primarily commercial, but residential for the last 5 years of that. I’ve never seen, known, heard or read about anyone succumbing to radon.

    What a zoo!

TAs/RAs are typical in south FL. Pretty nuts, especially when I have to do paperwork every time I get one. “In sight”…

pilot airline jobs are we at the peak

One of the most poorly written posts I’ve seen on here in a long, long time. To be asking about professional pilots, in such an unprofessional manner, raises its own questions.

Father of an Aspiring Female Pilot

Not necessarily. Often times, enlisting is the path. For a Warrant Officer in the Army, while it doesn’t require a degree, the days of “high school to flight school” were 50 years ago. The WO selection is generally competing with E5/E6 and even E7, now WO1. I joined the Army to fly helicopters...

Father of an Aspiring Female Pilot

The military can solve all of those problems (flight training, college education, debt free). But she must be prepared to kill, and die, for her country. The vast majority of citizens don’t have the moxie for that.

Best accessories for Mini iPad 6: Screen protector, cases, and mounts

That’s where my iPad 6 mini lives (mini 4 before that) for the past 5 years, secured via Ram mount. I’m a big fan of the Otter Box Defender for protection, it that was not an available when I got the 6. It has a case, albeit thinner. No issues thus far.

What single engine trainer to buy?

This has been great feedback and good discussion! I appreciate all of the input. Getting to some of the questions, our airport is in MO, field elevation 700’, so high DA is usually not a factor. Wx cooperates the vast majority of days. My A&P offered up his 150 for sale, so taking a look at...

What single engine trainer to buy?

Great feedback. I retired as well after 26 years, and mentoring this budding aviator as he pursues his FW passion on the civilian side.

What single engine trainer to buy?

Good points. The airport fully supports standing up instruction capabilities. The city is behind the concept as well. The mayor is a USAFA grad, flew 135s in the AF, and retired after 36 years at Delta. Great relationship and situation all around.
