    Taking Elderly Flying

Be careful getting them loaded in. Their bodies aren't as flexible as they used to be. Be sure to ask them how stable their stomachs are and if they can deal with some bumps. I took my brother-in-law's mom, all of 82 years old, up for a ride in the Super Decathlon. Getting her in the back...

Presbyopes....what is your "reader" glasses solution?

I have some prescription sunglasses (progressive). They're not that dark so I can wear them in nearly all light conditions. I don't fly much at night but if I do I have my normal glasses or I can pop on some readers.

    Oil temperature - run-up dilemma

Lycoming says its warm enough to take off if you can open the throttle without the engine faltering :) You probably have a Continental though. I like to let mine (Lycoming) sit and warm a bit anyway.

Young Eagles - Count Me Out :(

It just sounded like marginal weather. Otherwise nothing unusual here. My advice is to arrange ahead of time with the organizers to take 1 kid at a time so they can plan how to handle the number of kids. If you don't, they're in a bind and it's not fair to them. Also make good use of the...

The music lovers will appreciate "pulling out all the stops"

    Wheel landing vs. Three point?

If you're good at wheel landings in gusty/windy conditions, do that. If you're good at 3-point landings in those conditions, do that instead. That's my advice. Both have pros & cons and there's endless debate, so instead just find out what works best for you and your airplane. Have fun too...

I second Patty's school, been there. Otherwise you're going to have to look for something like an Extra.

    OWT compilation

You have to wait at least 30 minutes to fly after you've eaten.

    Fun, basic aerobatic maneuvers

Hammerheads and Humptys are tons of fun. And with an Extra you can do gyroscopic tumbles.

    Chicago lakeshore - single engine

I've been doing the yearly Chicago Triathlon, in August. The swim is in Lake Michigan and I can vouch for its coldness. I think an Ercoupe landed on Lake Shore Drive last year. Kind of amazing actually, he did it well. When I've flown the lake shore I haven't used flight following. I tune...

    Coordinated turns

I focus on what I'm feeling in my seat. If my right side is feeling more pressure, then I need more right rudder. I fly something that does produce a decent amount of adverse yaw.

    New to flying...again

I never did meet Wally, unfortunately. And I would have much rather learned in a Champ then the 150. Oh well.
