    Hangar Space Heater Recommendations

I use a small space heater with dryer vent hose attached to it for the engine. I cover the cowl with a blanket and tarp. I use a second space heater set to low inside the cockpit. I have both heaters plugged into a timer and preheat for several hours. Last time I did some work on the plane I...

Talk me out of renewing my AOPA membership

I just renewed mine today actually. I get an insurance discount but no idea if that covers the dues. I do read the magazine.

    Tire and tube different manufacturer?

This is the listing. Pretty significant savings over new. https://www.ebay.com/itm/124793029068?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=HG2rFlRjQra&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=wjL1B2TOTZe&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

    Tire and tube different manufacturer?

I figure a tube won’t get much UV exposure inside a tire which is mostly inside a hangar.

    Tire and tube different manufacturer?

My current tires probably have a couple years of tread left but they’re 10 years old. They look great since they’re under wheel pants and the plane is hangared. I figured I’d replace them anyways. 6 year old “new” tubes and a new set of tires should be better than what I currently have without...

    Tire and tube different manufacturer?

From Goodyear Tire and Tube Age Limit Age is not an indicator of tire serviceability. Goodyear aircraft tires or tubes have no “expiration date” as long as all service criteria (Section 4 of this manual), visual criteria (Section 5), or individual customer-imposed restrictions are met. It is...

    Tire and tube different manufacturer?

They are unused from 2016. According to Goodyear in their FAQ’s there is no expiration date. https://www.goodyearaviation.com/resources/pdf/aviation-tire-care-2020.pdf

    Tire and tube different manufacturer?

I just bought some Goodyear tubes because I got a good deal. I am planning on buying a different brand of tire. When I look at the tires I’m interested in it will say “use with tube part #xyz” Does it actually matter? I plan on using my Goodyear 7.00-6 tubes with an Airtrac 7.00-6 tire.

    Comfortable Ownership?

When I moved my plane from New York to Michigan there was no change to my premium. Avemco told me if it had been Florida or Alaska I would have seen a big increase.

If you’re on Facebook follow the international Stinson Club. Sometimes people will list there first. https://m.facebook.com/groups/20082572978/

    Comfortable Ownership?

I paid cash for my Stinson 108. $2400 a year for a nice hangar. $1100 a year for insurance Probably $2000-$4000 a year on maintenance I change my own oil. Burn 10 gallons an hour and transport mogas to the airport so about $35-$50 an hour in fuel burn. Flying about 50-100 hours a year would...

Person jumps from aircraft landing at RDU

Likely has a mirror installed. I’ve flown the Casa among other types doing that contract work. I’ve flown out of Raeford too. Usually we have a mirror and it becomes part of your scan when someone is back there.

Are You Increasing Your Hull Value?

I increased mine from $33k to $38k. Surprised it only increased my premium by a couple dollars a month. Currently paying about $1100 a year.
