It Prop replacement time! Oh yeah!

I'm going to take one last look at Hartzell. But I'd have to change the counterweight on the crank shaft. I'm told this can be done by pulling the #6 cylinder... Has anyone done this? Should I be as scared of a counterweight change as I am.... I have a Lycoming IO-540 and it doesn't need an...

It Prop replacement time! Oh yeah!

I think I'm not going MT. Talked to three pilots that were happy with MT, one brand new prop, one that bought a plane with one and hasn't had an issue and flys only from hard surfaced fields, and another without issues. My boss owns a DA42 and he will be waiting 6 months for a replacement MT...

It Prop replacement time! Oh yeah!

I have a Comanche 250, IO-540, Mccauley prop form 1957. Hub 2D36C28 / Blades 80MM-6 I knew the prop hadn't been looked at in 21 years. Was starting to have the slightest bit of play when wiggling the prop blade but no leaks. My mechanic said he'd sign it off but recommended sending it in for...

    Citation V down in Oregon

I listened to the ground radio and I didn't seem that bad to me. Not sure what the person on FB was talking about. The radio communications were not perfect by the pilot, but I've done worse on the radio.

    Stabilized approach... IFR...flaps????

If you are shooting to minimums, slow down at the FAF. If not a 172 will slow down very quickly. Pull the power, add carb heat, level pitch...wait for white arc and full flaps and you are back at about 75 and ready to land at the 1000' markers. Practice it a few times, learn to do it smoothly...

Twin Training - VMC (Minimum Control Speed)

Bump for a great video on VMC. IFR magazine has a great article on VMC this month and mentioned this video. A must watch for twin pilots.

Garmin 175, 3 Aspens and LPV

It isn't like that... it is a good shop. My friend isn't good with technical things, especially electronics. He's a VFR pilot. So who know what he had them do on with the Aspens. He just felt that $4000 in addition seemed very expensive for a box that says it does LPV. I've been hoping he...

Garmin 175, 3 Aspens and LPV

Ok. He and I were just confused why getting LPV approach capability out of the 175 would be an additional 4k in addition to the 175. I'll suggest he get a written estimate. This stuff confuses him more than it does me, and I'm confused about it.

Garmin 175, 3 Aspens and LPV

A buddy has 3 Aspens and wants a 175 installed. Then the shop says it costs an additional $4000 to have LPV. I look at Garmin online info and I don't see why this could be. Their advertising sounds like LPV is in the box and ready to go.....

    Jordan, MT Engine Failure

I think I've found a mechanic in Circle MT.... Only an hour away. Edit: My buddy also found a mechanic in Jordan that works on Ag planes.. Either way, he's got options.

    Jordan, MT Engine Failure

Hi all, My friend was flying his Lancair ES today and blew a cylinder at 11,500 heading East. He hit nearest on the GPS and managed to glide to Jordan, MT (JDN) for a landing on the numbers... whew! The folks in Jordan MT have been super nice and helpful but the airport has NO services. He...
