    Flight following question

If you really want to sound like a pro, add in “1200 in the box and nothing on the fish finder.”

    Training Advice

My understanding is that you will need a Second Class medical BEFORE you start using the Post 9/11 GIBill, not sure about any other GI Bills. The VA will pay for flight training that will be used for a vocation, and a 2nd class is needed at least. You might consider transferring to the Air...

    Tell me there's Hope...

Lots of threads on this and lots of good answers already. Being somewhat red/green color deficient myself, the first thing I did was find out what it means to "fail" the FAA test. You can miss a certain number of plates and still "pass" to FAA standards. "Ishihara pseudoisochromatic plates...

Driving on a ticket is a suspension?!

An arrest is a type of detention. However, the police can detain you without arresting you. A traffic stop is such a detention. The police can also put you in handcuffs and place you in the backseat of a cruiser without making an arrest, just a detention.

Driving on a ticket is a suspension?!

If you still have concerns, request a driving record abstract from the Illinois Secretary of State; it's like 12 bucks or something. That will show if your license was ever suspended.

Driving on a ticket is a suspension?!

"I didn't realize that getting three tickets over the course of seven years was that egregious " It's not. In Illinois, if you have 3 or more convictions for moving violations within a 12 month period your license can be suspended. It can also be suspended for more serious violations, like...

    Medical/FAA Discrepancy

Well, getting a little away from the question, but I see what I did. It would have been more appropriate to say that it shouldn't have been a surprise to see the restriction on my medical. It would difficult for me to argue with the FAA that the color vision issue came out of the blue. Since...

    Medical/FAA Discrepancy

I suppose anything is possible. With that being the case, I guess I would have been screwed had I flown at night on that medical... Does the subsequent medical without the restriction supersede the first? After all, the FAA allows several different tests to be administered. If a subsequent...

    Medical/FAA Discrepancy

Without pointing too many fingers, the first AME was so old he didn't even know why I was there, the second AME was in the military (I was still in at the time) and we spent 10 minutes swapping stories, then he printed out my medical after checking my pulse and blood pressure. I have had...

    Medical/FAA Discrepancy

Not much of a poster, but thought I would share... My most recent 3rd class medical (now expired) contained no restrictions. However, when I checked my airmen certificate on the FAA website, it listed my medical and contained the "Not valid for night flight or light signal" restriction. I...

    CFI Payment

As an Army aviator, you have been the recipient of north of a million dollars worth of flight training, at taxpayer expense. I have paid a little short of a million dollars in taxes over the last 40 years, so you should be a little more grateful that folks like me have made your life possible...
