    Interesting RNAV Approaches?

There are a couple of non-authorization-required RNP approaches out there, that the GNS 650/750 can handle (irl). KCRQ RNAV X 24 for example, already mentioned. I think PAKT might be the other. I don't know of any desktop simulation avionics that offer this capability though. Maybe RealityXP.

    Filing a Flight Plan

IFR majority of time, and yeah, I usually file for those ;) VFR, I prefer flight following and a PLB vs. filing.

    I have a weird question

A healthy fear is good. Flying is dangerous. I don't think we really grasp the reality of the risk until we've had a few hundred hours and then see/hear of friends having accidents. Things start to hit pretty close to home and you realize that despite how much experience you have, how hard...

    RNAV 36, Joplin, MO

Thanks. I for one have learned/relearned quite a bit here. I was of course discussing non-TAA accidentally, based on my recent discussion with other pilots on similar but NON-TAA approach questions. To be honest I haven't seen a "TAA approach" in a long time, and we apparently don't have many...

Yes, you're right, I missed the TAA depictions, and was confusing RNAV approaches without such depictions with ones that do. Apologies.

Deleted, had missed the TAA depictions. Apologies.

Cirrus SR22 Crash in Washington in Olympic Mountains

I wonder if it could have been a spin impact instead. It seems the right wing moved a lot more snow than the left, and might explain why the left wing tip is ripped off like that. Odd indeed.

Cirrus SR22 Crash in Washington in Olympic Mountains

Hmmm.... Partial CAPS deployment? Looks like it came in pretty nose low, stuffed in the snow and slid forward maybe 3 feet. Could not have had too much airspeed.

    Clarity Aloft

Used the CA for about a year. I really like it, noise attenuation and sound quality is great. Only negatives are the inconvenient 30 seconds it takes to put them in, occasionally having to reinsert a side in flight (when this happens often its time to replace the tips) and inability to rotate...

I need an IPC!! Norcal area

Can recommend Keith at California Airways on your field. He has some awesome sim setups as well to do some work before getting in the airplane that can really help proficiency beyond the minimum requirements.

    Poll: Calling all Multi-Engine Pilots

Piston twins: Positive rate, out of runway, gear up. Engine failure before gear up, throttle to idle, land/stop straight ahead, otherwise, full rich, full prop, full throttles, Vyse, clean up, identify, verify, feather, etc... I can get the blue line philosophy even though its a bit foreign...

How Not To Land An Ercoupe

At first I thought it looked like a stall in a nose-heavy configuration and drop of the nose, but after seeing that stall test video, and looking again, it looks more like the pilot tried to force it on, thinking he was closer than he was (flared way too high obviously). If the nose wheel...

ForeFlight version 8 has been released.

It would be nice to see frequency labels in vector maps only. You can tap it for the info though. No morse code helper here however. Also, nice that you can tap on an airway for the MEA/MOCA, BUT if there are dual MEA/MOCAs i.e. for different directions of flight, it only shows the FIRST one...
