    Burnout

As others have said, if you have the time and budget, go fly VFR for fun. I was lucky enough to be able to do a tailwheel endorsement and IFR simultaneously. In the early morning we would go fly approaches (in an Arrow), and in the afternoon take out the Citabria and do tailwheel training. I...

    Instrument approaches to grass strips?

On my "bucket list" (maybe not very glamorous) is to fly an instrument approach in IMC conditions to a grass strip. A bit of searching around the Northeast finds only one: 08N, Keller Bros in PA. I could hack something up from FAA databases, but maybe some other crazy soul has done this?

    American Helicopter Museum (KOQN) pireps?

Another trip I'm thinking about since they're open again is the American Helicopter Museum at Brandywine (OQN). Anyone been there recently?

Any pireps on N74 (Penn's Cave)?

I'm thinking of a trip to N74 soon (Penn's Cave). There is a cave which sounds pretty cool (you tour it in a boat). The family is not much into caves so it seems a perfect by-air adventure. Anyone been there? Any pireps on the airport or cave? (I'll be flying my Archer, so the airport seems...

Tail wheel Pilots: 3 point or wheel landings?

Need to be able to do both, but really I agree that a 3-point is for when you are a little rusty or have botched a wheelie and lost your nerve :) In my experience with a strong crosswind a wheelie (one wheel) is the only way to go if you have a big rudder (e.g. Citabria). Also, for...

    COVIT-19 Ban VFR only IFR

Unfortunately no insurance carrier I'm aware of will honor a policy if you have an expired medical. That's what my agent told me when I asked. I would expect the same to be true for expired flight reviews. Of course, one can choose to fly without insurance.

Your thoughts about going to Oshkosh

No way I'm going to join a crowd of 500k people anywhere this summer. It's a different world, and it's going to be quite a long time before it returns to normal (if ever)!

    I did fly today...

I went out too this morning. 3 weeks since last flight, almost a record for me. Need to keep the rust off (both my skills and the cylinders!) Luckily I can enter the ramp through and outside gate so no need to go close to anyone. ATC was scary quiet... I had to double-check that I was on...

Best route: Flying in to NorCal area from the East?

    Thanks, that's helpful.

Best route: Flying in to NorCal area from the East?

Yeah, well, I'd be skimming above 10000' mountains S of Tahoe. No thanks, I prefer to have 2000' between me and the rocks if there is any wind at all!

Best route: Flying in to NorCal area from the East?

Yes! Did this last summer, beautiful route! I was going to LA though, going that far south is a bit out of the way since I'm headed to the SFO area.

Not a bad idea. Have you ever done it? In what aircraft?

Best route: Flying in to NorCal area from the East?

Indeed. Just been flying around Tahoe in the Google Earth flight simulator (quite a useful planning tool!) If we are blessed with clear skies and light winds it would be do-able looking out the window.

Best route: Flying in to NorCal area from the East?

IFR capable. Last trip stopped in Ogden (N of SLC) which was nice. No special interest in Tahoe. Prefer not to carry oxy so 12000' or below. Would like to find a route with 2000+ terrain clearance. Shortest route not so important.

Best route: Flying in to NorCal area from the East?

Hi Folks- After my very successful cross-country flight from Boston to Los Angeles last summer (photos), I'm hoping to move my daughter to Berkeley for school in the fall by Cherokee (coronavirus willing). Looking for some route advice. Would like to stop in Casper, WY, so mainly concerned...
