    Feline hearing protection

Getting a new fluffy family member that we'll want to take with us on trips. Do any of you who own cats / do Pilots & Paws flights have good solutions for either feline ear protection (that are appropriate size / stay on head) or a soundproof cage (that still has decent ventilation)?

Anyone else? Avionics nightmare, theft, sabotage

I went outside the shop’s purchasing process, thinking I was buying direct from Garmin through a 3rd party agent (the avionics director) to get a good deal. I understand there’s a world where legally the shop can disclaim liability from the employee’s theft. But known sabotage that I paid...

Anyone else? Avionics nightmare, theft, sabotage

Long time no post... I've been spending my time working, getting married, buying a plane, and general life stuff. First a huge thank you to this forum - all of you are responsible for so much of the knowledge I have as an aviator and member of the aviation community. Now for the story (I'll...

    Getting CFI without formal course

    Getting CFI without formal course

Awesome—thank you for the advice! And good point on landings and maneuvers. I’ll get the ACS standards and see what I need to nail. Will also check out backseat pilot

    Getting CFI without formal course

Great advice. How much was the course approximately?

    Getting CFI without formal course

I haven’t “grossly underestimated” anything. I’m coming here asking for genuine advice on what it would take to achieve the certification given my level of proficiency. If it’s ‘a year of study on the weekends plus 100 more hours’ then so be it (although I really don’t think it is) I’m also...

    Getting CFI without formal course

Did you really get it done with a 2 week course? That sounds very quick... I like it. As for insurance, my girlfriend is also a pilot, so I can give instruction to her in the aircraft and have both of us log PIC with her getting a lot of dual. Hoping this will help her build hours more quickly...

    Getting CFI without formal course

Knowledge level today: + Commercial pilot (just got rating, scored very well on written) with 9yrs flying experience, 280hrs + Feel like I understand and could teach all of the 'base' private pilot knowledge, but know there's plenty of stuff I don't know, especially as it pertains to specific...

    Getting CFI without formal course

Hi all, I'm interested in getting my CFI (as a challenge, for better future insurance rates once I buy, and just to have the rating), but don't have time to do a live / in-person CFI course. Does anyone have thoughts on: 1) What are the best, most comprehensive online CFI courses out there...

Stepping up to bigger planes without killing the bank

Thanks all for the thoughts! I went by to check out the Cirrus today, fell in love it, but realized spending $400/hr on flying isn't worth it and getting my instrument (and staying proficient with it) is going to be a really good challenge in & of itself There's a few multi engines in the area...

Stepping up to bigger planes without killing the bank

The 182's are pretty available, and there's always at least one plane available (unless you're trying to take something for a full weekend). I'd say ~50% of the time the RG is available in the hours I'm trying to fly (the other 182 is not an RG fyi) As for complexity, yes it's better than a...

Stepping up to bigger planes without killing the bank

Hi PoA friends! It's been a good 5 years since my last post... hope y'all are well :) I'm in Atlanta and a part of a local flying club (LGE Flying Club) with 2 172's and 2 182RGs. I'll be finishing my instrument rating next month, and want to begin stepping up into slightly more "exciting"...

    Flying Clubs in ATL

Partnership probably isn't the way to go for me since I'll be in ATL for as little as 2 years and don't want the hassle of selling.

    Flying Clubs in ATL

I'll be living downtown most likely (Va Highlands, Midtown, or Buckhead). Definitely don't want a big buy-in since I may be leaving in 2 or so years (management consulting position where most people only stay a few years max). Thanks for the thoughts guys! Edit: lzu looks cool, but I can't...
