    Am i too carefull?

Can never be too careful, so I'd say if you weren't comfortable then you might the right choice. However, when I'm evaluating the risks of an IFR flight, I care much more about icing and convective activity than I do about ceilings/minimums as long as I have an out. I'm much more afraid of those...

    Personal Minimums for Instrument Currency

IMO, ceilings are not the best criteria for making the go/no-go decision. Sure, if you know you can’t get in then you shouldn’t go. But, for me, I don’t care if I break out 200 AGL or 800 AGL...I’m either landing or going missed. The real killers are convection and icing. Anyone who’s...

Nov. 19, 2020: Cirrus lands vertically w/ no injuries

Because, for whatever reason, there’s some sort of macho superiority that’s associated with the idea of dead sticking a fixed gear airplane into a field with unknown terrain. Personally, I would choose walking away with my family in tact vs. hobbling on a broken who knows what with my chest...

The pilot from this incident posted on COPA, but, understandably, wasn’t ready to talk more about it yet. Glad everyone is OK. Another CAPS save for the books.

Cessna Centurion crashes on approach to Lubbock, TX | Icing Conditions

Agreed that it's slow, just pointing out to Racerx that he probably wasn't doing 50kts. I fly my approaches at 120 in an SR22 and 90ish in the Tiger...I'd add at least 10kts to that if I had icing, if not more.

Cessna Centurion crashes on approach to Lubbock, TX | Icing Conditions

Remember that ATC's/FlightAware's speed indications are ground speed. Winds were 17G21 at the surface...It's possible winds at his altitude were 30kts or more. This would put him in the 80kts+ IAS range.

Looking for help with low compression.

I’ve never been a big believer in compression checks meaning very much at all. Hot vs. cold will make a difference, but more importantly what has the oil analysis trends shown? Have the filters been clean or did you find metal? I would scope the cylinders and inspect the camshaft for actual...
