How much was your 2018 Annual (or Condition) Inspection?

Flat rate inspection $1200 includes logs and AD review/updates. Sqwaks and other maintenance this year about $1600. Owner assisted work with my shop. Total this year $2800. Year we did a top overhaul and panel work...don’t ask.

    Mountain Flying

I've taken the mountain flying course out of Ft. Collins, CO. and flown the high peaks. I also spend time flying in and around eastern ranges: Blue Ridge to the Adirondacks, the New England ranges. While Lowland Mtns. dont present the same degree of altitude and peformance issues as do the...

The BEST thing your CFI taught you?

Flying: crosswind landings for my private / what icing looks like for my instrument / chandelles for my comm. Decisionmaking: if my gut tells me not to fly, then don't.

    Old plane and avionics question...

Go read the data about the efficacy of TAA equipped GA aircraft regarding safety over steam gauges. You'll note the results. Each installation type has its positives and negatives. New England/ New York fly in lunch?

The newly opened Aviator restaurant at Glens Falks, KGFL, is excellent. We missed that flight since Carol's closed a couple years ago. But this restaurant, in a newly built facility on the field was superb. Great food, brunch type food on the weekend, nice decor and good prices. In addition...

    Oil consumption?

Did a top overhaul few years ago on my O360A3A. Burned straight mineral oil first 10 hrs with an oil change at 5 hrs. Switched to 20/50 camguard at 10 hrs. Flew the snot out if the plane. Rings seated by 2 hrs as evidenced by substantial drop in CHTs. Oil consumption was up there through 5 hrs...

    Traffic

Flying in and out of the home drome (KPOU) we are often sharing, on really close terms, airspace with NYANG C130s, C17s, and until recently C5s using Stewart (KSWF). Really cool!
