thrust required to move cessna 172 from rest...

Just curious. Imagine...I am sitting in a cessna 172 at rest on asphalt. How much (minimum) thrust power is required for the plane to start moving? I know that thrust force is 90 degrees to weight force (say 2500 pound gross weight). Furthermore, thrust force must overcome static friction...

    Cessna 172 air fuel ratio...

Hi. I looked through the 172 poh but did not find, numerically, what the proper air-fuel ratio is. For that matter, is c152 air fuel ratio the same? Thanks.

    Retired fighter pilots flying commercial...

Just curios. If a retired f-18 pilot wants to fly commercial, does he have to get his atp rating through traditional route, i.e. ppl, instrument, commercial then atp? Or are there shortcuts since he has had prior great military training?

    Biannual flight review...

I am thinking of getting a tail dragger rating from another flight school since my flight school only have C172. But it is also time for my BFR. My question is: can i get a BFR in a tail dragger from another school and also be trained in a tail dragger plane? Or do i have to get a BFR in a C172...

IFR intersection not found on chart...

I am going through IFR training on my own for now, until I can find money. I tried to fly RNAV to L35 (big bear) per RNAV chart. The miss approach is at intersection BRGET. I can not find it where AIRNAV pointed it out - 1.9nm from 7CA1 (Abraham ranch airport). The low altitude IFR chart...

    TAC VS Seactional scaling..

TAC VS sectional scale is 1:250,000. Is this equivalent to a 2 to 1 zoom out. I am basing this off the vor radial since TAC vor radial radius indicates 5nm while sectional vor radius indicates 10nm. Please clarify. Thanks.

    Cessna 172N useful load...

Hi. Just occurred to me that a fully loaded C-172N with four passenger, whose weight is around 170 pounds per person, I can only take about half the gas; i.e. 20 gallons - and no baggage. All this is per C172N POH weight and balance in chapter 6. This really doesn't make the C172N a very...

    NDB/ADF on FAA test...

Per AOPA, private pilot test will no longer be asked NDB/ADF questions. From what I read, that is only on the private pilot test. What about instrument tests? NDB approaches?

    KSNA missed approach...

Hi. per KSNA ILS plate, the (primary) missed approach is 10.9 DME from I-SNA, intersecting lax 113.6 at MINOE. My question is...is this a right pattern on 111.75 or right holding pattern on 113.6? I don't know the holding pattern once I get to MINOE. thanks. The alternate missed approach at...

    multi-engine starup...propeller rotation direction...

Hi. just curious about propeller direction of rotation in multi-engine planes. I saw on youtube that some planes (twin) such as piper seminole with one propeller CW and the other CCW while others (piper cheyenne for example) are both clockwise (viewing from inside the cockpit). Are there...

STAR (via Kayoh Five) into ILS Rwy 20R at KSNA...

Hi. I can understand how to fly the STAR and ILS Rwy 20R plates individually. However, I can not see where to start my ILS approach into KSNA Rwy 20R, from looking at the STAR. There is no IAF on the STAR (via Kayoh Five) diagram. Please "bring me in". Thank you.
