Any regrets moving up to better plane

This. I had a 172, then 182, now an LSA CTSW. I fly now with no regard to fuel burn, overhaul costs, or keeping an antique in the air. But, your mission and mileage will vary.

    Buying a LSA. Good idea?

I started with a 172, out grew it in a few years (kids kept growing), bought a 182, now own a CTSW and love, love, love it. It fits my mission perfectly. Mostly aimless flights for the pure fun of it. Fuel burn or engine overhauls that will require donating a kidney are no longer at the...

    LSA reality check

I’ve had a 172M, a 182P, and now a CTSW LSA. So the 182 was a solid brick in about any weather. Great for straight line flying XC. Not fun for anything else. Loved the 172, but flying a plane built on technology that is 7 decades old is ridiculous this day and age. Flying one after my LSA...

Grand Canyon Video with 7 Cameras in a DA40

Beautiful plane, beautiful scenery, great cameras (insta 360 on the tail?). Great editing as I know this takes a lot of time and effort. Great trip. On my bucket list.

    NA: Vehicle transportation service

I’ve shipped several cars and a UTV via AM/PM. They are a broker but all four times have been great. Always had the best price. YMMV.

Opinions on the JMB VL-3 915

The VL3 is one sexy airplane and I could see pursuing one down the road if MOSAIC passes. I hope to sit in one if I make it to Oshkosh this year. From videos on YouTube it appears pretty narrow as the pilot and passenger are pretty snug.

Bad Day as a Student Pilot

Oh yeah, and being lined up solo on the runway ready to depart, I asked myself, “What the hell am I doing?……well, here goes something.” I shoved in the throttle and ended up having one of the best days of my life. The feeling afterwards of soloing a plane is something I will never forget...

Bad Day as a Student Pilot

Lots of great encouragement and advice. let me add, when you first solo, you WILL come in too high and have to go around. Without that extra instructor weight, you will not sink as planned. Just go around, extend your downwind a bit, and try again. Just remember, your first landing by...

A/C R12 Recovery during AC blower repair

I have not looked on eBay, and I don’t know if you are serious or joking. However, I would be highly suspect of any person selling refrigerant on eBay. First, it is illegal unless you hold a valid EPA card. Second, you are not allowed to even hook up gauges without the certifications. Third...

    Salvage/rebuilt vehicles?

Lots of good stories and advice here. I used to have an opinion of no way. Then years ago I met a friend that owned a body shop. His advice very loosely, was to never buy a flood damage car under any circumstance. The amount of electronics and computers versus water never plays out well long...

    NOTAMs are ridiculous...

Very well done. Sad that it is true. Just like a lot of things in aviation- ridiculously out of date and overpriced.

    Hangar Space Heater Recommendations

It’s just a small electric heater I bought on Amazon. They last a few years. I use on low heat until the element burns out. Then I turn on high heat to use the second half of the heater for the remainder of its life. I pay about $40 for them. I put a duct fitting on them and run the 4” flex...

    NA — Car Window Tint

I’ve had everything tinted, heck even our boat when we had that. Yes, bubbles will go away and they may have even encouraged you to park it in the sun. Quality tint makes all the difference. You’ll love it.

Need advice -Wifes first time up

Way too funny. My wife was the same way. I had my instructor take her up the first time. That way she trusted him more than me, was less likely to hit him if she was scared, and then could focus on the flying and even take the controls. After that, we flew for years all over for 4-5 hour...
