Is it just me, or is the PHAK poorly written?

The PHAK must have been written by this guy.

selecting a CFI to work with

I live in a smaller city and there is only one CFI to choose from within 150 miles. I just made it work.

Do you regret giving up flying?

I recently sold both a Ducati and race car. At different times. I thought it would affect me more than it did. I say sell the plane and rent to scratch the itch.

Evading interior border checkpoints by flying over them

No, there are definitely informational and operational issues at the border, mostly due to lack of resources. I’m not getting my info from the media, I live it every day.

Evading interior border checkpoints by flying over them

No, they won’t. You do realize that plenty of people live on the border, right? There’s a generous amount of general aviation activity here. Day and night.

Evading interior border checkpoints by flying over them

I live in Laredo, and I fly over the IH-35 Border Patrol checkpoint (29 miles north of Border) all the time. So no, there’s no problem. FWIW, interior checkpoints are operated by the Border Patrol. The Ports of Entry on the actual border are operated by Customs and Border Protection. Air assets...

    PIREPs on TacAero tailwheel training?

Well my plan is to buy a straight tail Cessna 150 taildragger. It will be flown only on pavement. My plan was to just get an endorsement in anything first, purchase the 150, have it flown down to the nearest airport with a CFI willing to teach, and then get the transition training. Although I...

    PIREPs on TacAero tailwheel training?

The lessons would be in a ‘46 J-3. I don’t own a plane yet. The goal is to buy one after I get the endorsement.

    PIREPs on TacAero tailwheel training?

It’s to safely fly my own taildragger, but I found someone in Corpus Christi who should be able to do it much cheaper. Calling him tomorrow.

All three Las Vegas airports will charge a $3,000 landing fee during F1 races

I’ve been an F1 fan for decades. Been to maybe six races at COTA. The Drive to Survive show on Netflix, combined with social media, has really turned F1 into a s__tshow. I miss the days where the conversation in the paddock was about the powertrains versus which driver was dating which other...

    PIREPs on TacAero tailwheel training?

I heard back from TacAero. Their basic tailwheel endorsement package is $3500 for the instructor and then $200 per hour for the aircraft itself (minimum 8 hours required). So it’s $5100 at a minimum. I already have a private pilot cert, but man…someone could get close to finishing a sport pilot...
