I fly the RNAV 20 frequently with IR students. The missed is a full 180 degree right turn with terrain all around. Sounds like a classic got-slow, stall-spin. Perhaps the airplane was never cleaned up, and had ice, but the visibility is almost certainly a factor. It was snowing last night with...
Those guys in the Migs have countless hours of training, but what they didn't know, was that Doug Masters listens to rock music, despite Chappy's pleas.
RIP Chappy.
I was sitting in the flight school office one day with the flight school manager, when another CFI and his student walked in from a flight.
The student says to the CFI, “Are you going to call that number they gave us?”.
Fortunately it was a joke.
I am unlikely to sign you off for your checkride unless we have been in the clouds together. You need to find a CFII who will get you into IMC. I am in Nevada so we usually have to go to the Sacramento area to find it. I also do this late in training when the student is proficient enough to...
The whole “call ahead” needs to go away. We don’t have to do that to walk or drive across the border. I have written to my Congressmen, but nothing ever changes and the people I vote for never win. Sigh.
Yup, but in this case the applicant found out at the checkride so had to pay, postpone and go fly another long XC. Best to find out beforehand. I’d bring it up directly as I have heard of others running into this. We really need a letter of interpretation from the FAA to make it clear. Of...
Check with your DPE. A local DPE didn’t even start a checkride with a CPL candidate because his long XC did not include a 250nm nonstop leg. It seems some FSDOs are interpreting it like this.
