Very lucky the owner consented to letting you fly left seat with the instructor. I know my insurance company would probably not been very happy (or maybe they would be happy cause they wouldn't have to pay any claims).

I did that - best thing I ever did was get rid of the loran and put a GX-55 in its place. It still cost me a few bucks to get the antenna installed.
I was at copperstate this weekend and there was an outfit advertising 430W installed for $9,999.00.
They also said TIS worked great in the LA...

Seas are supposed to be calm today - I thought about going down and fishing today but we ended up hosting an Oktoberfest party last night and knew it was going to be a late night and semi-early morning cleaning up.
I am a maybe - haven't talked with the spouse about Sunday's activities. We were thinking about going to Copperstate, but they don't allow dogs. My dog fly's with me on occassion and likes airplanes. So we may do something else :)
May also be fun to go up to copperstate (Saturday?) - probably drive. The other day flying with Ken we were doing approaches with folks in the pattern - fun trying to fit in :hairraise:
