    iPad2 for flying -- is 3G needed?

    If you have the GDL 39 or Stratus 2 do you need to have a data cellular plan? or do either of those act as your wifi or 3G? My dad wants up to date inflight weather and I am trying to get as much info as possible for him. Thanks!
