A.A. Business/Computer Programming

The Veterans Administration help to pay for college after 4 years 1967-70 in the Marines MOS: 2817 Crypto KG-13. The Marines let me out a month early so I could start a spring semester. I was interest in business and computer programming. The business courses were fun (accounting, cost accounting, economics, finance) the mainframe computer courses were Interesting (Assembler, Cobol, Fortran).

After getting the 2 year A.A. degree, I was fortunate to get an entry level job as a programming technician at an Insurance Company ISD – Information System Division. I have to tell college students looking for ISD jobs, that you have your college computer programs well documented, at a job interview they want to see what you have done, it will give you an advantage to getting that job. You will learn that in an ISD – Information Systems Division, that all computer systems have standard documentation. When you are in an ISD, there are projects that will require you working 12/24 for years.

I was always interested in learning to fly, so when not thinking about school, I got my private pilots license at N34 Turner Field in Horsham, Pa. The airfield became a housing development many years ago. They had a Piper Flight Center with excellent instructors, it takes about 8 months to get a private pilots license, the FAA gave me a license to learn, so for many year I had a lot of good flying experiences.
