    STCs for windows

@Bell206 Ya I have a friend that does a good bit of photography. He is also a pilot. We would like to own a plane. Usually we fly a 182. It’s a good plane for what we do. However I don’t think it will satisfy 80% of the mission I would like to do. A high performance retract will. So can I split...

    STCs for windows

Good afternoon all. I am curious if anyone can point me in the right direction. I am looking into the possibility of getting a window mod on a piper that will allow for a bigger opening to allow a photographer to take pictures out of. Basically I would like to acquire a Saratoga or lance...

CMEL - 80% loss of performance when losing an engine

80% is rough. Sometimes it’s quite a bit higher. I believe some senecas (1 maybe) have closer to 90% loss. Remember this sage advice. If in a light twin: 1. Plan on the aircraft unable to maintain altitude. So start looking for a close alternate and go straight there. 2. Fly the airplane...

Best area to get some training in actual?

Hahahaha it’s like I’m reading words written by myself years ago!!!! I learned to fly in Colorado. I was always wanting to do actual instrument. So since I was where your at now, please take my thoughts to heart. Relax and don’t worry about it. Your instrument days will come. Spring and fall...

    Staying sharp between flight lessons

Also when you chair fly, do each maneuver stating the ACS/PTS tolerances and quoting the airplane flying handbook. That will get you up to speed for any practical exams

KPSP Cathedral One Departure - Climb via SID or Maintain Phraseology

So here is the quick and dirty. Yes if no too altitude than one must be assigned. Buuuutttt if they use the words climb via, than you must meet every posted restriction on the SID. Including VOR. And definitely speeds too!!! Now if you cannot meet climb gradients than you must reject the SID. Or...

    What to do with downtime?

If the annual hasn’t been started yet, and if the annual isn’t due for some time yet, why not fly the wheels off of it. Would give you a lot more knowledge on what to do repair/ upgrade wise. Of course if that’s not possible, I would recommend finding a way into another bo temporarily so you...

    Would you do this?

Well I liken it to: bumping uglies with my wife. Ya were doing nothin wrong (and don’t live in a southern state ), but would I really want someone present? In summary, we all have different views and reasons for carrying out certain actions. Even if we do nothing illegal someone is gonna Monday...

When should TFRs stop referencing a VOR that was removed years ago?

Well, it’s the FAA. What did you expect? Professionalism and an eye for safety? It’s truely amazing how some* feds will have an eye for the tiniest details in your logs and MX items. Yet they miss the BIG picture. *fwiw there are actually a few feds who have it right, and can see the big...

    Prebuy

Yes Yes I know, probably another question commonly asked and probably beat to death somewhere. And yes I did go looking through some of the threads in search of an answer. Okay now that’s out of the way, my question isn’t really a question. Rather I am a bit mystified by the whole prebuy...

I can't make sense of this crash

Nothing, they are pretty much the same. 100 hr is required of aircraft used for commercial operations. And yes flight instruction counts. Of course certain ADs will come due at different times but that’s pretty much it.
